My signature is a nod to an obscure musical; "The Name is Rachael Lily Rosenbloom, and Don't You Forget It!"
It closed in previews.

This book has a ton of obscure musicals listed...and is quite the interesting read at that.

I saw Rachel & it was an experience on a par with Rockabye Hamlet
You cannot imagine what the critics would have said about it. This one was the GWTW of bad musicals

I was just reading the review with Richard H. Blake on Playbill.com, and he was talking about doing The Prince of Central Park... anyone see it? It ran four performances.

I think we can take Grand Hotel off the list.

Bear in mind this was years ago
Prince was much like rainbow Jones - much ado about nothing. Rockabye was like the 20 th Century Limited . It was rocking. To see Meat Loaf when he was an unknown
Rockabye was NASTY

There's one obscure musical from the '50's that I read about in Ethan Mordden's "Better Foot Forward" that I would love to hear more about called "Sandhog" It's about the immigrants who dug the New York Subway tunnels. One of the reviews said it was one of the best musicals since "Carousel."

"The Crooked Mile."
Priceless British musical unlike anything attempted in the early 60's.

Hey Roxy, is it true one of the characters strangled themselves with a microphone cord in "Rock-A-Bye"? Hahaha!
But it was the great Gower Champion's decline, that and "Broadway" which is the other one I think he did.
Also, I think there is a CD? Don't know if Meat's on it but I have the Roxy Cast Album of "Rocky Horror Show" where Meat is both Eddie and Dr. Scott
Also, "Home Sweet Homer". Hahaha, wow! I've never been able to find any info on it except that it toured as "Ulysses" before the Broadway show.
Yul Brynner NEVER AGAIN did another new musical, returning to "The King & I" for the rest of his life.

According to castalbumdb.com, there is an OOP LP recording of "Rockyabye Hamlet" but I don't think Meat Loaf is on it. Either way, AVOID IT...talk about making your ears bleed.

I saw Prince of Central Park and it was laughable! Joanne Worley did her best. There was a hideous number where the mannequins at Bloomingdales come to "life". I am so glad I saw it but don't remember much. If I recall Joanne came in to replace someone sort of last minute- who?

Your Own Thing - A hip and happenin' re-working of The Bard's 12th Night. It played the Orpheum in the East Village and the show was recorded by RCA. It did make it to CD but now that's even out of print.
