Buying my HAIR tickets today, I was wondering...
Why do seats in the rear orchestra get (in most cases) the same price tag as front orchestra seats?
I remember seating at the Virginia in row Z (seeing Little Shop) and being shocked that I could only see the first half of the stage (due to the low overhang), and for the same price of a ticket in row H..
And I can't even begin to describe the rear orchestra seats at the Richard Rogers...
Thoughts?
I'm pretty sure the rear orch seats at the Richard Rodgers are discounted because of how partial they are...I sat there for half of In the Heights once (after standing for the first half) and I could not believe how truly awful the seats were.
Apparently people prefer to sit in the orchestra level, beats me why. I've heard that is the reason why the Gershwim has a relatively small balcony compared to other theatres.

I was in Orch S for HAIR back in August; I don't remember feeling like I was restricted-view... That's only about 6 or 7 rows from the back, as I recall.
It depends on the individual theater and the set design for the particular show.
The back of the orchestra at shows with high sets like In the Heights, next to normal, and Jersey Boys do discount their rear orchestra tickets.
