In the "shower scene," Nellie actually washes her hair (shampoo & all!) so I think wearing a wig would only hinder, not help the situation. :)

MusicMan, excellent point.

Two... I also agree. Michner's Tales of The South Pacific's racism issues were definitely toned down by R&H for the theatergoing public.

Oh my God!!! I'm soooo happy, this just made my day!!! Stokes has been gone for too long. I cait wait. Where are the details? I have to get tickets. I always wanted him to play the part of Emile. Those songs are meant for him.

Three points -

1. Reba will actually sing "I'm gonna WORSH That Man..."

2. Nellie doesn't HAVE to have short hair. Mary Martin chose to cut her hair very short to make the whole hair washing thing less cumbersome. I doubt they wil have a working shower for a concert version.

3. Regarding the race issue - it IS just a concert, and let's face it - Stokes is the whitest black man in America.

Beaver...,

A story about prejudice and making sacrifices to be with the individual you really love?

C'mon man, those things are TIMELESS... :)

Oh, yeah cuz' a bunch of people off fighting a war that they have no idea why they're fighting is soooo not relatable to today's theatre going audiences. It's a war musical, that makes it instantly strike a chord, especially right now.
