I will be in Chicago on business from April 7-11. I realize the Les Miserables is in town and I plan to see that. Its really pathetic that I have never seen it.
Does anyone have any other recommendations? I have Saturday night and all of Sunday free, though Les Mis will take up one of the possible times to see a show.
To give you an idea of what I like, some of my favorite recent shows are Urinetown, I am My Own Wife, Wicked (refrain from comment, please), and Gypsy.

See Falsettos at Porchlight Theatre's Finn Festival! That's the first thing I can think of.

'Berlin 45' an original play at Victory Gardens Theatre.
Tandy Cronyn stars.
Just a thought, but you can get half priced tickets at: www.hottix.org
have a great time in Chicago!
My boss said great things about Take Me Out done by the About Face Theater at Steppenwolf. I plan on seeing it tomorrow, so I can let you know if I concur. Second City is always fun if you are into improv as well.
If you're looking for a play, I'd recommend Take Me Out at Steppenwolf or References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot at Bailiwick.

If anything DO NOT see Jewtopia....wow one of the worst shows I have ever seen...and I'm Jewish! Incredibly predictable and just all around not so funny. Wicked is here, but I'm assuming you would rather see unique Chicago shows. Usually anything at Steppenwolf is good. Come to the suburbs and see a show at the theatre my dad owns :). Have a good time, it's a fun city.
See Dinner at Eight at The Merle Reskin Theatre I hear its going to be great..(I'm in it Cough Cough)
If you get a chance, check out the Shakespeare Theatre at Navy Pier. (I'm a big fan of Wicked as well
)
There's an excellent production of the Yasmin Reza/Christopher Hampton ART by the Bohemian Theatre Ensemble at Bailiwick Rep.
ART opens March 18th, 2005 and runs Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through April 17th, 2005. Tickets are only $20!

Thanks everyone! I won't be in Chicago when Wicked is there, and even if I was, I really would not want to see it again. 4 times with the OBC is enough for me. I like diversity.
I am going to look into seeing Falsettos and maybe Berlin 45.

If you get on Chicagoplays.com you can search for out what's going to be playing while you're in town. There's a link where you can type in the date's that you're searching for. Also, I'm not sure if the Tribune and the Sun Times do reviews on their websites, but the Chicago Reader does (chireader.com), and performink.com has a review roundup where they post a bunch of reviews for specific shows.
