A friend of mine and his family (none of which know much about Broadway or how to choose a show) have asked me to pick the show they see in November. They're all grown (parents in 50s, 2 kids in mid 20s). The shows they have seen before are basically the shows everyone sees (Phantom, Wicked, Lion King). So, I want to suggest something that they wouldn't usually pick and isn't generic, but that they will still like and appreciate. I would be so grateful for any help and advice that all of you experts could give! Thank you so much in advance.

I would say Kinky Boots, if it hasn't closed by then.

Come From Away.

Even though Come From Away wasn’t necessarily my cup of tea, it sounds like it might be a solid recommendation here. As far as shows that I really love, I would also recommend The Band’s Visit or Dear Evan Hanson and of course Hamilton.

Avenue Q and The Book of Mormon. They are funny, accessible, and joyous with a great score they'll hum afterwards.

Dear Evan Hansen is great too though darker than the others.

I'd also recommend Come From Away, but from the sound of the group I think Dear Evan Hansen would also be a sure bet.

I showed them some B-Roll and other footage from the shows that you all mentioned and they were really taken by Come From Away and the idea of the story! They just booked their tickets. Thank you all for your help and insight! Much appreciated :)
