It's rare if during the day I'm not on the verge of breaking out into a male solo version of Little Mary Sunshine.

The Reefer Madness movie, along with, oddly enough Sunday In The Park With George are my current addictions. I have to watch both at least once a week. I go through my day alternating between singing "Romeo and Juliet" and "Children and Art". It gets very confusing. I always love a little campy goodness mixed with Sondheim.
And of course Mary Jane/Mary Lane is the awesomenest. My favorite kind of humor- random! "Bunnies? I don't know what you're talking about but I like it!" Forgive me if I'm misquoting but I love the humor in that puppy. The only songs that make me laugh as much as the ones from Reefer Madness are perhaps from Princess Diana: the Musical. I believe only those can compare.
I'd love to do a concert version here at my school next semester (I go to Hampshire College, known for being a pothead/hippie school, parodied on SNL as Jarred's Room.) I think it would be a great way to get some of the school into doing musical theater who otherwise wouldn't and would be a great breather after doing Passion.
Dan- How do you go about applying for performance rights?
Buffy,
Check out the faq at www.reefermadness.org. It has all that info.

The whole musical is pure genius, but the song lyrics shine out as the brightest gems. The first time i heard: The wafers now don't taste so great/ they won't Transubstantiate" had me crying with laughter. Listen to Jesus, Jimmy and Romeo and Juliet stand out most in my mind right now. Everything was so witty and flew by so fast it was almost like "Did they really say that?".
Brilliance. The whole thing. I listen to Reefer Madness and think, i need to learn to write that.

Exactly, ary.
Hell, where else can you here a song devoted to a pew?
Zoneface, mine will be just the opposite. I'll break out into a female solo of "Mary Sunshine" (singing both parts myself of course).

Ha! I just break out in "We'll play with whips and nipple clips and candle wax" - my favorite line in the whole show!

Oh, and the extra song on the cd, the one that was from another show. It's called Weather Changes. I love that song too (also the song cut from the show "we know best" is great)
I like to sing the line "Come lose yourself in pleasure..." and do the same moves that John Kassir does. That is to say, the hand down and up the inner leg. It's a surefire way to make my roommate laugh.
