Anyone see Renee Elise Goldsberry As Mimi In Rent. Tonight was her first night on. If so any reviews.

I had a friend who was there tonight and she said tonight's performance was spectacular and that EVERYONE is on. I forgot to ask specifically how Renee did, but she kept emphasizing that everyone was amazing. I assumed that meant Renee including.

thats great I hope they really give it their all these last few months. They really make people come back for more. It is a great show. I hope Renee has a great time. The cast right now is a really strong cast.

That's good to hear. I have tickets to see the show this weekend. I haven't seen it in 5 years and I'm very much looking forward to seeing Ms. Goldsberry.

I will be seeing RENT this saturday night! A little disappointed not going to see Tamyra Grey as I heard she was one of the best Mimi's ever. But I'm sure Will Chase and Renee Goldsberry will be outstanding! Can't wait. this will be my first time seeing Rent, I Hope I'm not disappointed

I saw Renee last night and I really enjoyed her performance. Her acting is great and I like her voice, although she was somewhat out of breath at the end of Out Tonight and during Another Day. She seemed kind of nervous, but that didn't stop her from leaning all the way out on the bars, enough that I was afraid she was going to fall off. I think she'll be great once she gets used to the part.

dissapointed and "not tamyra" in one sentance? Please, consider yourself lucky, I had to sit through the agony of her "acting" as Mimi 2 or 3 times. Seriously I've seen 8 or 9 Mimis in my time of seeing this show and Tamyra was by far the worst (she's got a great voice though, so i closed my eyes during her parts)

Anyway about Renee. I really enjoyed her, the entire show was so "on" more so than its been in the last couple years, the cast was great togehter. Renee and Will (who is one of my all time favorite rogers) definitely had great chemistry and Renee was amazing. I mean I would give her a little time to get comfortable with the role, but her Out Tonight and Another Day were amazing. i was very happy with her overall performance.

Wow...I heard she was phenomenal..but they must've been stoned and/or drunk because you all say she was terrible! Well, at least I will be seeing a Mimi better than her!

I've seen Tamyra twice. Once during A&A's run, and LOVED HER, and then on May 31 and HATED HER. She really went downhill. However, her Without You was fantastic. Other than that, you are not missing much.

She doesn't look too old, especially with Will Chase. Now she doesn't look like she's 19, but when has there been a Mimi that actually looked 19? I certainly didn't think Tamyra was 19.

Thats true Tamyra looked older. Is her singing as good as Tamyra and Antonique. My opinion no one can play Mimi better than Antonique. She was the best Mimi I saw and I saw a lot of them.

I was about to say the same thing Viola, I don't think any Mimi has looked 19...I feel like there aren't too many people in that age range that could vocally handle the demands of that role 8x a week though.

I saw Renee on her first night and I though she was AMAZING(I loved Tamyra also). Yes she was out of breath by the end of Out Tonight. She looked 19 from where I was sitting but I was also in the upper mezz...LOL. I was really impressed with Eden Espinosa also.

I saw Renee on her first night too. I loved her! She still needs to get more comfortable with the role, but she was great. The cast is very strong right now which makes me really happy because the closing cast should be strong.

And i don't like to say bad things about actors/actresses on these boards, but Tamyra was awful. The worst Mimi I have ever seen. She didn't understand the character at all. Her voice was pretty, but it didn't make up for her lack of acting. You're lucky to have missed her.
