hey Rentheads, heard a little rumor today that i'm intrigued by. i heard that there is possibly going to be a movie version of Rent, and that Clay Aiken tried out for the lead. Being a huge Clay fan, i'm just wondering if this is true. thanx for your help!

PLEASE NO!!!!!!!!!! That is not good!!

What is your dream role?
My dream role would be to be myself. To be performing at the Hollywood Bowl and to have an audience there just to see me, as Stephanie. They are there because they like what I do as a singer, an artist and a person (the last being the most important). I enjoy escaping and portraying other characters, but to be accepted and wanted as yourself... that's amazing! --Stephanie J. Block Just one of the many reasons I admire and respect Stephanie!!

I don't know. We talked about this awhile ago and there wasn't too much conclusive info. Justin Timberlake was supposed to be in consideration too. As of yesterday there were still no casting decisions made. I guess they'll have to throw a "celeb" or two in the mix, but wow, it all seems semi-tragic. Though I do like Clay!

i think that Clay has a chance. having held numerous lead roles in high school musicals, and even being judged as "too Broadway for American Idol", i think that it could be awesome. just give him a chance--listen to him. but thank all of goodness that Justin has been denied. that would have been tragic.

Here's a semi-serious speculation what about Ewan McGregor? I don't mind his voice, and he's a pretty big name. Could he be a good Mark?

I think Adam Busch would be a great Mark for the movie version of RENT.

For those who don't know, Adam is lead singer of the band Common Rotation and he's appeared in a few movies and television series (most recently as a regular on The Jury and as a recurring role on Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

I think Ewan may be a little too old.

Oh my God! Not another "who's going to be in RENT" thread! We have done this topic to death. Let’s wait until some casting has been done and then we can all bitch about who is right or wrong for whatever part. I think that the last thread on this topic had over one hundred responses.

"Smart! And into all those exotic mystiques -- The Kama Sutra and Chinese techniques. I hear she knows more than seventy-five. Call me tomorrow if you're still alive!"

Clay has no interest to do movies. So this is false.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Go Cara, go! lol... yes, come on. There are HUGE threads on this already. BUT... if we're on the topic, I wish this movie wouldn't happen. There's no way it's going to do justice to the show.

Clay Aiken as Mark. Justin Guarini as Roger. Vanessa Olivarez as Mimi. Kelly Clarkson as Maureen. Reuben Studdard as Benny. I'll stop now.

why don't they actually get broadway actors? Because they aren't big names?? If they put one big name in there they will be able to sell it plus I think it will just be a big movie because it is RENT and it's a great story.
