Nope, it was either Daphne Rubin-Vega (original Mimi) or Simone (one of the swings who left to join the Angel cast) sometime back in 96.

Daphne was replaced by Marci Harriell (Spelling?). Idina was replaced by Sherie Renee-Scott.

And from what I've been told, it wasn't on good terms
I think she left to do Wild Things

If memory serves me correctly, Daphne left after less than six months.

Daphne was definitely in the show for more than six months. She stayed for a year, maybe a little more.

I think it's cool that in RENT, Sherie replaced Idina, and in AIDA, Idina replaces Sherie.

MARCY HARRIELL replaced Daphne!!! First official replacement! So good. In general. I never saw her as Mimi, but she's insane amounts of good.

Technically...Sherie replaced Julie Garnye on the HAIR concert recording. Julie Garnye, who sings demo vocals on the "Wicked" Karaoke CD, filled in for a sick/absent Idina Menzel at the actual HAIR concert. I have yet to hear Julie Garnye sing. If anyone knows where I can find sound clips of her, I will love you. Madly.

Even though I saw Rent often during the original cast's run all the way through the present - my memory is fuzzy. Adam's last day was another cast member's last day, too, I think? Anyone know who? And Norbert moved up from understudy and took over for Adam full-time I think? Help! I'm getting old!

Daphne was with Rent longer than 6 months. Closer to a year I'm pretty sure. She did the San Fran run as well. Never heard anything about her leaving on bad terms at all. All I ever heard was a lot of the cast described her leaving as heartbreaking.
