I've actually been told Eden as well from some sources...

BUT...that was Disser's first post. Can that really be trusted?

I heard from a great, real source that it's Eden Espinosa. She doesnt haven an official start date yet...but it's 99% her.

Man, I love her. PLus she's NEW, never been in RENT....no recycles!

I have to go see her a bazillion times.

Sorry, sounds a bit fanatical, I know, but wow, what a steller final cast this will be?

And I have a feeling the A&A tour cast will be just as amazing.

i would love Eden to play maureen...
merle and eden..that would be amazing...thats the only way i would see rent again before it closes

but i would have to guess that her paycheck won't be as big with rent...with wicked she must have been making a fortune

They saw a LOT of people for Maureen. Shoshana was seen but wasn't ultimately available. They also had a certain one name Legally Blonde cast member come in too. It sounds like they are pulling out all the stops for this final cast.

Now we'll just have to see who will play Mimi...

If it's a certain one named Legally Blonde cast member who happens to sing better than anyone I know and happens to be funny as sh*t then I think she should have closed the show having never played Maureen either which many, many of us are still scratching our heads over. As I said earlier, Eden's a great singer but not much more. I'm all for creative casting but Maureen is not hispanic any more than Mimi's caucasian.

I would have happily paid full price to see Orfeh play a role she's perfect for. Espinosa, not so much. I'm still trying to erase the memory of her playing "baby BKLYN" out of my head.

I think she should be closing cast Maureen... she knows the Broadway track from her week as a swing in December. The next Maureen should be in rehersal already and should be following Nicolette. Because Tracy knows it, she can be ready asap to start.

Even though I do like Eden, that whole show was a mess.

I wouldn't mind Kelly Karbacz as Maureen again.

dancingthru, I know that but we're not talking about one of the dozens going in for a stint in the show, this is the *last* Maureen and for my money, Eden is not ideal. I'm not saying Orfeh is either but if there was a choice and apparently there was, Orfeh would be incredible. I've heard her sing "Take Me" and it sounds unlike anything or anyone who's sang it before and is totally uncommon. She's also a Tony nominee for whatever that's worth, some people still care about that "clout".

As someone who has no emotional investment whatsoever in the closing cast other than curiosity and has never been a Renthead, it would be smarter to give it to Orfeh (recent Tony nominee and still in the show she got it for) than Eden Espinosa, who's been away in green for what seems like forever. My 2 cents.

As much as I'd LOVE to see Orfeh play Maureen (seriously, one of my favorite parts in one of my favorite shows), I don't know that it'd necessarily be the best thing for HER career, would it? I mean, with her album coming out and such, maybe focusing on promoting that and doing more gigs and such would be better than being the 1000th replacement in RENT? I get that it's "closing cast" and all, but...seriously...

Also? WORD to bringing back Ava Gaudet. I loved her.
