I don't care so much about what they look like though... I care about having talent, and bringing out the personality in the character. Drew does neither

Daphne Rubin-Vega voice drives me nuts on the cd! i guess i'm use to it now tho

at first dapne's voice really got on my nerves but it sorta grew on me after a while

as for the casts. some of them have been good. i just think that they are coming to the show too soon. some of them are so young! I think if the had more experience then they would be a lot better. as for these stunt casting people-- no excuses for them...

whatever. if you dont like the current cast, dont see the show, hope and pray there will be no movie (and if there is, dont see it) and curl up with your RENT book and blast the OBCR. that should make you feel better

It has NOTHING to do with age. many young performers can dance circles around their older counterparts. It is bad CASTING. BAD performers recycled over and over again and getting bored to death in the same role. If they were recycling GOOD/GREAT people like Jim Poulos, michael Mcelroy, Sherie Scott, Amy Spanger, Sylvia Mccalla.. people of THAT calliber, it would be okay.. instead they bring back the same BAD people.

Whoa, when did peeople stop loving Karmine all of a sudden!? She is one hell of an actress, and her voice is OUTSTANDING! What show were you guys watching when you saw her!? She was nothing but adorable whe nI met her bakcstage in 2002.
Oh, and the way I understand it, is the character of Mimi is actually based on Kar (the part about Mimi being a young dancer, not the part about Mimi being a drug addict!) but she was still in her late teens at the time I believe, and they went with Daphne (whose voice I LOVE!)
And Maggie Benjamin NOT a good actress!?! okay im gonna pretend I didn't hear that...

So anyway, I doubt i'll ever see Drew, but, i'm pretty sure he'll improve at least somewhat once he warms up to the role. Other that that it's nice to see RENT getting the credit it deserves in a review =)

comment on maggie -- she plays EVERYTHING WAY cartoonish and over the top.. and no, not cause "maureen is over the top". there is a BIG difference.

Well i know its not totaly their age... Im just saying that for some of them, I can see the talent is there, they just have some things they could work on. Im sure they get better as time goes on.. i usually see the show a week or 2 after a new cast member is added, so maybe im not giving them enough time to warm up to the show... :shrugs:

hmm... she hasn't done much besides rent.. okay.. you loved her 'Maureen'. I think she is an amazing vcocalist and I enjoyed seeing her and hearing her sing, but a great actress, she ain't.

Crap. I forgot what I was gonna say. Still defending the casts I saw tho... I liked them. Perhaps I don't have much to base it on... I'm not an expert who's seen a million casts, like all you seem to be.
