Jonathan Larson's Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning rock opera takes the stage at Fort Mason's Southside Theater in its first San Francisco locally-mounted production. Based on Puccini's La Boheme, Rent tells the story of one year in the life of eight friends living the Bohemian life against the gritty backdrop of NYC's East Village. These friends strive for success and acceptance while enduring the obstacles of poverty, illness and the AIDS epidemic.

It's a bit of a stretch and redundant to call it the "first San Francisco professional premiere."

There should be a hyphen between "locally" and "mounted."
