re: Rent is filming

That's hilarious.

Although I gotta say, there's plenty of gritty parts of New York to film in. I don't buy that as the main reason.

re: Rent is filming

Today for the scene they are shooting they are filling Sixth Street with fake snow and bringing in 400+ extras. They also draped Xmas lights all over the street. I'm interested to see how it will look...snow in San Francisco! We don't see that often. Haha.

re: Rent is filming

I was at the set last night to watch and it was awesome! The extras were wearing Happy New Years party hats, holding noise makers, etc. The put some fake snow in the street, Christmas lights on the buildings, etc. They were also setting fireworks off over the street! Way cool! I was fortunate enough to be standing in an area where the cast was rehearsing the shot. Rosario was wearing the tight blue Mimi pants and she looked fantastic in them and Idina was in the catsuit.

They were having a hard time dealing with all of the residents of Sixth Street though, who are homeless and drunk and pretty crazy. They had a lot of security but they were still having a hard time dealing with it all and there was extra concern because the homeless people kept walking through the streets of the set right next to the fireworks. Plus, a bunch of people brought their dogs and some didn't have leashes.

It was a fantastic time though! I had a lot of fun.

re: Rent is filming

Yeah, I saw the whole cast, minus Taye. They were all rehearsing the scene together in a group. Adam looked good - I failed to notice much of his costume, sorry - but he was holding a wine bottle and Rosario for the scene was walking like arm-in-arm with him. Anthony looked fantastic as well, and it seemed as if his character was acting less drunk than the rest of them, if that makes any sense. Wilson was wearing this absolutely fabulous pinkish dress with some amazing pink shoes. He wears it well!

re: Rent is filming

Sad. Nobody's said they've seen Taye yet. re: Rent is filming

I saw Wilson in the LVB outfit and he looked perfect; this sounds even better! Adam's costume was probably the denim/leather again. No wig, I take it? I have a feeling seeing him act drunk will make me sufficiently laugh my ass off. re: Rent is filming

re: Rent is filming

Wilson was in a blonde wig - forgot to mention that. Adam's hair was the long and wavy look he has been sporting.

If you go to the Compulsive Bowlers board and look through the Rent Movie topic you'll find some links to some pictures. :)

*sigh* and listening to all this talk is my only way of staying in connection with the Broadway world...mainly Rent. Damn Rhode Island!! Why can't I live somewhere else?

re: Rent is filming

Thanks, Feathah. I saw the CB pictures and I'm in love with them, especially the ones of Adam when he's all punked out.

No worries, BlueJ! I'm just a picture junkie. re: Rent is filming

re: Rent is filming

I thought of this randomly after the mention of Wilson's costume: Is he going to be in drag for the entire movie?

Because Angel's not in drag for the whole show, but the parts that he isn't in drag (You Okay Honey, Seasons of Love, Finale) have been changed around, so I was just wondering if anyone else had any speculation.

re: Rent is filming

My guess is it would make more sense to show him out of drag at least a little bit, just for the sake of contrast. I mean, if you can see him out of drag, he looks more wild and attention-grabbing in drag that way.

Ohhhh so excited! Snow in SF, that's not something you hear about very often. :-P And 100 huzzahs for the blue pants!

*cries* I haven't spoken to my SF friend who has to drive by there in two days! And she KNOWS I know that they're filming there. WHY????

re: Rent is filming

How was Wilson's wig? Was it the long and flowy one they have in the musical, or that god-awful short one they started with back in '96?

Holy moly, I hope it's the former. re: Rent is filming
