if I knew how to post pictures, I'd show how the Broadway production also often plays up the Mimi/Roger relationship as the 'leads'. I guess it's marketing in a way, but I personally wouldn't say that they play it up for the movie because it's the straight couple and they're both beautiful...many people think of Mimi and Roger as the leads, from bway and the movie. agree to disagree!

Also, I hate to dwell on it, but I still can't get over the cover...it's ok, it just looks like...it's trying too hard or something. Not that it does any good complaining about it now, i just think using either the movie poster design, the 'highlights' cd design, or just the plain Rent Bible design would have been wiser...whatever...arg

To add to what Namo said, that's also something that comes from La Boheme. That's its principal love story.

The pairings for Life were so seemingly random; I don't think they had anything to do with the characters. They really didn't look like it.
