No big surprise here. Too many gays in the theater. The Republicans might catch something.

You know what would be great? If all these Liberals would stop acting like ALL Republicans HATE gay and we don't love musical theatre. I thought Liberals were supposed to be the "open-minded" ones, but closed-mindedness goes both ways, people.

i do believe that when someone says Republicans, they are speaking in general terms of beliefs, not about every single person belonging to the party...

Still no good, joey. That's what we call stereotyping. If you're a Dem, you wouldn't want to be stereotyped as a pinko, bleeding-heart, baby-killing tree-hugger, now would you? Didn't think so.

Besides, the fact that this convention killed Broadway grosses doesn't have much to do with the fact that it was a Republican convention. A Democratic convention would have been almost as bad. Fact is, all the security and fear of that security kept tourists away, and tourists make up the vast majority of Broadway's audience. Not to mention all the New Yorkers who fled for the weekend to keep away from all that mess.

The reason I'm pissed at Republicans for this is because they cost the city millions of dollars and witheld millions of dollars in relief and counterterrorism funding from it AND STILL HAD THE GALL to use its misfortunes to their political advantage.

Where, oh, where would people get the idea that republicans hate gays? That must have come out of thin air! All of the convention speakers coming out in favor of gay rights was staggering. I couldn't believe the number. I was also pleased by the number of speakers who spoke out against discrimination against gays and lesbians. ALL of them said they would not support a bill to bar gays and lesbians from marriage. One member gave a glowing character reference to Cheney's daughter. It was all so inspiring. Since a group's members implicitly or explicitly support the group's goals and beliefs, it's wonderful to know that republicans are indeed compassionate.

Go to the Off-Topic board and you'll see that not all ideological Republicans support anti-gay policies. Heck, some of them are gay. Fancy that.

Well, I can name one humorless Republican on this board, but I won't. Instead, I'll stay positive- look at posters like LadyGuenevere or papalovesmambo. A lot of the rabid Democrats here could stand to learn a thing or two from them.

Sorry, Plum. But we're in a very important fight to get out from being second-class citizens. I have no time to be fair. And I have no time to stop stereotyping.

See...I'm all for being a big ole hypocrite right back. Fight fire with fire, I say. I have been rageful for the last month or so because of the systematic attempts to destroy families and lives by the Republican party. Someday I'm gonna act on that rage and my defense in court will be a brand new phenomenon known as 'gay rage'. It will sweep the nation.

You pull the lever for the Republicans, you support that agenda. End of story. Am I being fair? Think I give a f*ck?
