Nora Ephron is battling leukemia. She is not expected to make it through the night.
What a devastating loss this would be...
Prayers for Ephron and her family at this time.

Yikes. Prayers to her, and her family.
Not to sound insensitive, but I wonder if this will affect Hanks coming to B-Way at all.

I've wondered the same thing, though I was far more interested in a new Ephron play than Hanks.
RIP Nora Ephron

I was a freshman in High School, but remember IMAGINARY FRIENDS vividly. I begged my parents for tickets, and it was quite a fight, but finally got them. I'd had a long love affair with Ephron's films after watching them in repeated rotation during a year of ongoing hospital stays.
I remember so much of it, the excitement of seeing one of her works LIVE. I went home and spent the next year devouring The Group, Pentimento and more...
This is heartbreaking news. A devastating blow to the entertainment industry... No one had her wit. No one ever will.
Time to watch "You've Got Mail"...

A worth-reading article from the WSJ to remind you about what Ephron meant:

Sad news indeed- I enjoyed her work very much.
She did a LOT of unaccredited "doctoring" too. I remember reading Linda Obst's "Hello, He Lied" and being bothered by what I perceived to be a 2nd "voice" in the book and shure nuff in the thank u's was Nora Ephron's name. Not that she re wrote it but definitely several of the best punchlines had her tone.
May she Rest in Peace.

I enjoyed IMAGINARY FRIENDS. I thought Swoosie Kurtz and Cherry Jones were very good and despite the play's flaws I don't think it deserved the scathing reviews it received.

Truly a terrible loss...what a brilliant woman, the likes of Dorothy Parker. She will be missed.
Thoughts and prayers for her friends and family. She was such fun to read and her movies were smart and clever.
Such sad news. I highly recommend everyone check out Nora's tribute speeches to Meryl Streep and Mike Nichols from their respective AFI Life Achievement Award ceremonies. Two of the funniest speeches I've heard.
