It was wonderful! I saw it tonight on a whim. My friend called me and told me her babysitting job was canceled so we went. We were lucky enough to get good seats and not pay stupid service charge fees.
We went to dinner and then saw it!
I'm not good at reviews and I'm tired but the cast was so energetic! I saw the show at the Kravis Center (Boca Raton) last year and the same person played Velma- Terra Macleod. She "Wowed" me once again. The voice on her is AMAZING! Powerful...
Roxie Hart was played my Michelle DeJean. At first I didn't think I would like her but as the show went on, she grew on me...even more than last year's Roxie who was played by Bianca Marroquin.
Michelle and Terra were so energetic, you knew they were having a ton of fun! The chemistry betweem them- amazing! They were winking at each other and at times one of them would laugh...it was adorable! I was surprised to see that the dancers that sat on the sides were talking quite a bit. It wasn't obvious, but it definitley wasn't perfessionalism. It wasn't stage talk either. I guess I just tend to notice those things more because I act...*shrugs*
I was very surprised to go into such a huge theatre and nearly every seat was full. However, after intermission, a surprising number of people left. The row in front of me, 6 people had left and my row had 3 seats empty and scattered throughout, a surprising number were empty from the full house it started with.
All in all, it was a great, fun time! Such a lively, energetic show. Also, my friend thoroughly enjoyed it. As we were leaving, she said that Terra(Velma) should be the next Elphaba. haha...I didn't even want to respond to that.
Edit: The people sitting in back of me I sware I was going to kill. There was a husband and wife probably mid 70's and she was telling him and that she used to have that kind of body (refering to the tall, skinny dancers) and she wishes she had it now. She asked her husband if he remembers when she had that kind of body and if he enjoyed it and is he sad she doesn't have that kind of body anymore...etc..." It was an amusing conversation but not quite at the right time. The lady next to me was humming but after I gave her several 'looks,' she got the point.
And the guys phone that went off wasn't too pleasnt either...
*Class, I tell you, nobody has class anymore*
