Does anyone know if Patti was microphoned? I'm kind of curious about how she'd fare as far as that goes.
All of the leads are miked...
They are all finding it odd.
Did Patti object any to wearing a mic? She's always been a very vocal opponent of them, and I would assume she'd be indignant that she'd have to wear one for an opera.
They're opponents of mics? Why is that?!
God, I wish I could see this.
its not very specific
Well they had to leave room for all the "For Your Consideration" Oscar ads.
My guess is about 50 percent of the actual review made it into print.
'Tis the season. And Variety has its priorities.

Patti is against the over-microphonication of Broadway. She's a traditionalist. Use your voice and skills to get to the back of the house. I think they miked the LA Opera piece because of spoken dialogue in such a big space. Sound systems are such right now on Bway that you can't even tell who's saying a line unless they step forward or have a spotlight on them.
