I'm gonna take a guess and say no. Do we need another recording? The OBCR is a classic and there's always the Actors' Fund of America Benefit Recording if you want to hear the score sung by the Broadway voices of today.

It would be neat if they did. I don't enjoy listening to the OBC or the movie Soundtrack and can currently only stomach the 2004/2005 European tour cast recording so I hope they record one with Groff.

I love this musical and the OBCR is just bareable ... I mean I love it but the 2005 Actors Fund is better and I love listening to it but I think it would be amazing to record this with Groff. It would be fun to hear an updated full score like the OBCR. And I know 2005 AF has basicall the whole score but its different b/c they put some songs together instead of the original line up. But mostly I would love to hear Groff sings these songs!

Hey now...don't be cutting on the OBCR! That recording got me through my senior year in high school with some sanity left. :)

I didn't say I didn't like it I do I really just want a new one recorded with Groff! So I still ask does anyone think it will happen?

And does anyone have the 1992 Austrailian Cast Of Hair? If so, is it any good? I just ordered it. I heard it was the only Hair Album with the most score. True?

re: Revival of Hair with Groff!

I'd say they're probably not recording it, but I'd certainly like them to. The Actors Fund recording is fun, but it's much too polished and flashy...a hand-picked group of professionals may be able to do some neat riffs but they can't touch the spirit of the OBCR. The best news I heard out of this summer's concert version (the production of "Hair" in question, for all intents and purposes) was that the actors/singers steered clear of that Broadway showiness and actually did justice to the original cast.

The musical arrangements go a long way, too--I remember hearing that this summer's arrangements, with Galt MacDermot himself in the band, had a much more 1968 feel to them. The Actors Fund arrangements, on the other hand, took more cues from the 1979 movie than they did from the OBCR. Still a ton of fun, but a very different feeling. I think we could use a new, more authentic recording again.

But again, I doubt it will happen (unless the show ends up transferring after its run).

His character will probably (and hopefully) be shirtless at times, but sadly, his is the only one not to get naked in the infamous nude scene. It's sad. I know.
