This show is my new poison. Such an amazing score. Anyone else want a revival of this?
Toni Lamond as Princess Puffer, if you please.
Alice Ripley woudl kick butt in the part. I saw it twice... once with Betty Buckley and once with Donna Murphy as Drood.
Yes! They should revive this show. With all of the reality TV shows voting people off islands, etc. This would be the perfect show for today's crowd... they get to vote for the murderer and the "mystery" detective. What's not to love?
I will say this... the first time I saw the show it was fantastic. Everyone was outstanding and it had a great pace and energy. The second time it sagged and was a bit underwhelming. I took a friend to see it, and she didn't really understand why I liked it so much. I had to remember back to the first time I saw it to explain.
So, casting is crucial... and so is the energy level. The show can be mediocre without it.
(Hell, so could ANY show, for that matter.) But this one can't go on auto-pilot and stay afloat.
The thought of Ripley and Benanti doing "Perfect Strangers" is seriously bringing me to climax.
Elaine Paige as Puffer.
Donna Murphy would be a great Puffer, after having played Drood during the original run.
...If she'd show up.
NYSF should revive it next summer. It's more deserving of a revival that TWO GENTS, in my opinion.
It will be more difficult to find someone to fill George Rose's shoes. He was terrific and set the whole tone for this show...
...and won the Tony for it.

I dunno. He's got to be able to do full-on Music Hall...
...which is the British equivalent of Burlesque and/or Vaudeville. It takes a special talent to be able to handle that style of presentational theatre.
Rose was about to start work in a regional production of DROOD when he was murdered.
Toni Lamond had been contracted as Puffer for that production. She would kick ass.
Jim Dale? Robert Lindsay? Phil Bosco?
Drood is one of the most fun shows both to see and to be in; I totally agree with whoever said that it's perfect now because it's like reality TV. I think Patti LuPone would be a good Puffer...she kinda looks like a Puffer...

Agree with Jim Dale. Also think Daniel Davis has the right quality for it.

I totally agree with a revival! Our theater company did Drood, clearly one the most fun shows ever, what I wouldn't give to see this back on Broadway.
Edit: Tim Curry as the Chairman would be cool. Possibly Jim Dale. Don't know that much about him. And yes! Patti LuPone as Puffer!

Rose was in a car accident - I don't believe it was murder.
