He was always a pleasure on screen, on stage and in the few times I ran into him socially over the years. A long life well lived.
I never got a chance to see him on stage, but his scenes with Barbara Stanwyck in The Thorn Birds are unforgettable.

''Not Prince Edward of Euphrania!''
To quote a lyric from ''The Slipper and the Rose,'' ''Oh, ho, ho, what a comforting thing to know'' that there are others who love this 1976 Cinderella live-action musical. Richard Chamberlain and Gemma Craven were a royal treat, and so were the Sherman brothers' cute and catchy songs. One of their most beautiful waltzes was even nominated for an Oscar (''He Danced With Me/She Danced With Me''

I only know him from The Slipper and the Rose, and that my mom always thought he was a hunk. I love The Slipper and the Rose even though Chamberlain may not be the most interesting Cinderella Prince. He still was princely. Now I find out he was gay. Awesome! I am glad he had a long life partner and I hope he is singing and acting with the angels.

I had the pleasure of meeting him about 50 years ago at a mutual friend's house. He was as nice as he was handsome. A real gentleman. RIP.

This might be embarrassing for me to admit, but I really had no idea this man was American until the death announcement. I really thought he was English this whole time!
