Another gay guy who falls into the stereotype of liking musical theater. But the gayness doesn't stop there. I particularly love magical musicals, about fantasy, fairy tales, poofy dresses, sparkly special effects, and, yes, Disney.

I think this is a genius idea!

So you think Amy just did a better job at acting in her smaller role than Ariana? I can understand that. She was chilling.
I have not seen many films this year. I usually see films from friend recommendations, and also try to at least see whatever wins Best Picture. It sounds amazing that this year is considered that good for films and performances. At least I saw Sinners (and liked it very much).

So, I just looked to see Amy Madigan was nominated in Supporting. She was great, but she didn’t have a big long journey that made me tear up like Ariana. I would have nominated Ariana over her, but I guess since Weapons was the better movie, they figured Amy deserved it more. That’s usually how the Best Costume winner works. Not all the time, but usually, the Academy just votes most for the costumes in the film that was also nominated for Best Picture, even when

I can’t believe Ariana didn’t get nom. Oh well, I was wrong.

So while yes, it’s true I have not seen a lot of the movies that could have Oscar worthy performances this year, I truly cannot see a world where Ariana’s performance does not garner an Oscar nomination. I also think she will win, but admittedly that is, as I said, without knowing much of the competition.

This Oscar Season Don’t Forget About ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’ Dec 26 2025, 12:29:17 AM
I am embarrassed to say just because the leads didn't get recognition that's probably why I didn't think they were good enough. They were great, just like I thought the whole movie was (minus wishing the music was more memorable and that Jlo could sing better).

I saw this yesterday on streaming and wow! Ok, so I had never seen the musical or heard any music from it before. I didn't even know anything of the plot going in. I just saw the trailer and thought some movie star was gonna help some poor boy get successful or something. It was surprisingly extremely gay, and that was awesome. I thought it was a great movie, but that's probably just because the material was already great, because the actors, while good, did not give outstanding perfo

Super cool! I thought Wicked's Broadway sales would go down but the opposite happened!

I liked Michelle in the role. She was such an icy bitch. I liked her reserved and kind of secret menace. I didn't care that she wasn't a strong singer. I haven't bought a soundtrack for the films yet, but I don't think I'd be bothered that I have to hear a few minutes of poor singing in between absolutely glorious singing by everybody else.

Oh, thank you so much, SonofRobbieJ! Not everyone can remember or articulartice why something moved them, but you did it for us and wow, I wish I could see Jo as Jack! Also, thanks for answering me about the horse and coach purses! Awesome!

Should Chu Create a 3 Hour 'Director's Cut of Wicked Dec 11 2025, 07:28:14 PM

Intersting that some people are already rethinking their response to the first movie.
My guess is that for mostWicked fans, the movie is likely to stand the test of time alongsidethe stage show. Butthe larger audience who were swept up in the excitement of it all will probably look back on themwith a "meh" response, much as I thin

McH3, so cool to know she is a puppet! Did they just throw her around the stage to get her places? lol
Binau and SonofRobbieJ, thanks for the info! So great that this is a moving production. Too bad about the Witch transformed gown. They have a picture of it on the Bridge web site and it did look really weird, like she was wearing a night gown indeed, binau! It does kinda match Rapunzel, he

Should Chu Create a 3 Hour 'Director's Cut of Wicked Dec 11 2025, 12:43:19 AM
Yes, I wish Chu made a 3 and a half hour cut of both films. Then I wouldn't have to watch so much when I wanna watch Wicked.

I will say that Wicked: For Good not getting as much awards love as Part One got, isn't surprising to me considering that Dune Part Two (the superior fi

Into the Woods - The Bridge, London Dec 9 2025, 09:36:11 AM
Thank God for photos! That set is a dream. The costumes are so interesting. They are what has never been done before for an Into the Woods I have ever seen! And in good ways, not bad. I mean, I don't know how I feel about what seems like mixes of really old and newer time periods within the same fairy tale, and I can't even necessarily get a hold on exactly if the costumes are even necessarily from real time periods, but the imagination on display is fantastic! Good job Tom Scutt

I saw the film again, this time not missing any parts, and I think it is as well directed as the first one. Nessarose, sure, comes off as whiny sometimes, but her crying for Boq is sad, especially when the cyclone hits, and Chu really showed the horror and sadness of what happens to her. Chu also used flashbacks really well, like the field where the leads hung out back in college, what Elphaba sees of Fiyero during "No Good Deed" (not flashbacks but what would you call them?), and o

Thank you so much for explaining. That is so cool about the Witch make-up! I always thought "Stay With Me" needs facial expressions read well. Ah I wish I could see this! I think the best I could get is video clips and photos. Hope some come soon!

Into the Woods - The Bridge, London Dec 5 2025, 12:48:28 AM
Binau, you said this is the gold standard for Into the Woods productions now. So do you mean all theatrical productions of the show will try to be like this Bridge Theatre one, and try to be more like this one than the original Broadway production? If so, why?
