Rick Lyon's Last 3 weeks in AVENUE Q, done Oct. 29

Hi, folks. This is Rick Lyon. Just wanted you to know that this is my final 3 weeks in AVENUE Q on Broadway. My last show is 7pm October 29.

Thanks for all your support and well wishes these past nearly 4 years, off and on Broadway and in Vegas. It's been an honor to perform for you, and the acceptance I've received from theatregoers like you and the Broadway community has meant a great deal to me. I'm especially proud of the many charitable BC/EFA events I've volunteered for on AVENUE Q's behalf, like the Easter Bonnet competition ("Avenue Jew"), the Gypsy of the Year ("Bein' Green"), and the three Broadway Bears mini Q puppets I've made with my shop (Kate Monster, Trekkie, and Rod). It's been very rewarding to know my work has helped raise thousands of dollars for people in need.

Hope to see you one last time at the Golden before October 29. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Rick

I'm seeing AVENUE Q for the first time tomorrow night - glad I'm catching you!!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

LOVE YOU!!!! Make me a puppet, and I'll be yours...

You have created a part of Broadway/Theatre history. You should be proud. I know the rest of the theatre community is proud.

Your skill and genius has and will inspire many other puppeteers. (I started my career as a puppeteer)

As a designer, you also have generated endless joy and fun for the new faces of Broadway.

The truth that you designed in your puppets allowed the actors to portray the truth of their characters. No one has ever done that as elegantly as you.

Slutty and Monsterishly as such, you have forever changed the fabric of Broadway and beyond. I thank you for that. And can't wait to see and experience what you do next.

Much love and admiration.

Good luck in your endeavors Rick. I'm sure you will be missed. It's a shame you had to do your own publicity for this event and the producers of the show haven't put out anything official announcing your departure.

I'll be seeing "Avenue Q" on October 28 for my first time for my 16th birthday. I'm so glad that I will get to see you! Good luck with all of your future plans!

I had to honor to see you many times in Avenue Q and honestly, you were the best. Maybe it was because you created all the great puppets but you never fail to make Trekkie funny- and all the other characters. You seem so shy but to see you on stage in a whole different way is absolutely amazing!! I can't wait to hear about another project you may be doing!!

And congrats on your marriage!! re: Rick Lyon's Last 3 weeks in AVENUE Q, done Oct. 29

Wow this is so weird because I was just talking to Christian Anderson about Avenue Q last night and how much fun it is to be around. I'm not totally surprised at Rick Lyon's leaving just very saddened as he always special to watch given the fact he literally created the characters. I will never forget my memories of Avenue Q and watching Rick perform. He was such a generous guy off-stage as well whenever I met him. I wish him the best of luck with whatever new projects he is working on, but Avenue Q can never be the same without him.

Echoing Yankeefan, who IS going to be the new Nicky/Trekkie? Christian Anderson and David Benoit are both busy. I really hope Peter Linz comes back although I am sure he's busy. I hope it's another puppeteer in any case.
Dean: Can I tell you something? Lorraine: That depends on what it is. Dean: I think you're really really pretty. Lorraine: (after a pause) Ok, you can tell me that.

I love you Rick! When I saw Avenue Q a few months ago, I was so glad you were still in it and thought your performance was excellent. I loved all the characters that you played and the puppets that you made. You were so much fun! Best of luck in you next project - you will be missed!

Rick,
I saw the show for the first time back in July and it was amazing. However I'm not going to be able to get back before the 29th. Do you know if their are plans to do a 5th reunion show with the entire OBC?

Just taking a guess that Matt Schreiber is going to be the new Nicky/Trekkie. Just a guess- not a rumor, not a fact.

Matt was understuying in August when Rick was out and he was great! re: Rick Lyon's Last 3 weeks in AVENUE Q, done Oct. 29

Best wishes, Rick.
Sad you are leaving Q, you are great in the role.
PS I saw Matt in the role and he was wonderful.
It would be great to see him take over that role.
He is very talented. So are you.
You are a great puppeteer and a wonderful artist.
I hope to someday own one of your puppets. They are gorgeous.
Everything in life is only for now.
Maybe you will come back to Q again. re: Rick Lyon's Last 3 weeks in AVENUE Q, done Oct. 29

"Rick's replacement is going to be Rob McClure. I don't know much about him except that he's fairly young and a Q newbie."

Never heard of him but I wish him all the luck!! Break a leg Rob! re: Rick Lyon's Last 3 weeks in AVENUE Q, done Oct. 29
