#1Ridiculous Poster Prices on eBay
Posted: 4/26/10 at 12:00amSo, I'm not from the NYC area and came up over the weekend to see American Idiot. I'm a huge Green Day fan and really wanted to see the show and meet the cast. I was able to have most of the cast sign my poster except for John Gallagher who I completely understand is exhausted after the show. I just checked eBay and there is an American Idiot poster for $444. Ridiculous!!!! I can't even believe someone would buy that and just from the picture, I can tell that Billie Joe's signature isn't authentic. I can't believe someone would be willing to pay that. I guess there are guys that repeatedly go around to stage doors to sell the posters, but I feel sorry for the person who buys those posters thinking that every signature is real when in fact they aren't. Sorry for the rant, but it's people like that who are there for completely the wrong reason and are probably part of the reason why some actors and actresses aren't that fond of the stage door...

Well, so far no one IS willing to pay that, but maybe with the cost of coming to NY it would be cheaper to buy it. I am not a seller and I would never buy an autograph. If it ain't signed in front of me, it's useless but you can not say Billie Joe's signature is fake. You have no idea what the circunstances are that he signed it. I have seen many stars sign so quickly at the stage door it looks nothing like their actual signature.

I don't know if it's ridiculous, but the original Dreamgirls window card on the heavy, heavy stock with the gold foil stamp always seems to fetch a princely sum whenever it rarely pops up.
As for autographs, I'm gonna say that my most prized ones are those that I witnessed myself. There's a story and a richness to the memories they evoke that's far more precious than some simple pen scrawl.

Posted: 4/26/10 at 5:37pmTrying to track down a Sweeney Todd revival or Grey Gardens windowcard is near impossible. And when one does pop up you have to pay out the wazoo for it...I'm still kicking myself for not getting them when I saw the shows.
