To Neo
I cannot believe you thought I was calling you a fanatic or that AP was the show I was referring to.The show I was talking about should be quite obvious. Of course, you than have a knee jerk reaction by calling me insane and saying you are blocking me. Never assume - you know the rest

If they built the reserve properly, Psycho can weather the storm and focus on building an audience. Tuck doesn't really have a path to viability. "
Where do you find these loss/profit numbers?

what you find (or estimate) is the weekly nut and the (reported) weekly gross. then you subtract the former from the latter. for some shows the producer discloses the nut; for some the information comes out via someone who gets the weekly reports and for some you have to estimate based on what's observed and what things cost.
Hogan, do you think Psycho's weekly nut is less than $700k? (They took in $597k last week, and you say their loss is less than $100k.)
Just asking, I have no idea.

yes. relatively small cast with no huge paychecks, tiny orchestra, no extraordinarily expensive production elements. It might be quite a bit less.
Since we're talking about grosses here and HogansHero is actively discussing I'm wondering if you can help answer something for me.
I was at Shuffle Along the other night and was thinking about how they have a big cast and a likely high payroll but only 1000 seats to sell in that theatre. Even though it's selling well and there is supply and demand, doesn't that make it harder to make a good profit? Or is it a case of theatre shortage and taking what's available?

LOL you couldn't be more wrong or off.
people, do not believe everything you read on here. there are supposed "insiders" and "experts" on here who like to pretend they can accurately estimate the nut of a production they have no clue about, including what deals have been worked out with creative team members, source material copyright holders, the landlord of the theater, and weekly advertising budgets. all of this impacts the nut and people like HOgansHero tend to ignore that.
Psycho does have a small number of musicians in the pit (augmented, it's reported, by tracks - something I'm surprised the union let pass quietly, but that precedent had already been established with Priscilla), but they still must pay the theatre's required minimum number of musicians (probably not a large number, as it's never been a big musical house).
As far as cast size, there are 20 personnel listed in the Playbill, definitely fewer than bigger shows like Something Rotten, about the same number as The Color Purple and Beautiful, and more than smaller shows like Fun Home or Jersey Boys. More mid-range than small, I would say.

You haven't really done much to make yourself appear to be any more of a reliable source.

^ i don't guess weekly nuts and then pass it off as factual, so i'm perfectly with how i may or may not "appear." thanks!
JM226, let's discuss this. The last time I asked you to discuss something, you disappeared because you could no longer just take uninformed potshots. I have probably seen the financials on more shows in my life than you have seen in yours. I know what the range is for shows of different types. Are there variables? Of course. I also know the kind of deals that people like Walker et al typically get, and also the kind of deals people like Ellis get. (not part of the nut, of course.) I really know the range of landlord deals because I have seen lots of them, the deals the creatives are getting because I have seen lots of them and especially involving these creatives and advertising is easy cuz we see it. Now what do you know? Based on what I know, and recognizing all of the marvelous variables you mention (you left out a bunch) I can state with relative certainty (a more than educated guess) what I posted. If you want to entertain the idea that Psycho has a $800-900k nut (and that's the only real possibility from playing out your nonsense) be my guest. You're just embarrassing yourself.

I never claimed I knew what the nut is... Only that you didn't know it. Unlike you, I don't attempt to pass off a complete GUESS as a fact

What you said was "LOL you couldn't be more wrong or off.."
That statement, ipso facto, conveys that you know what is right or on. Which we now know you don't.
A complete guess is when you have no basis for it-like rolling a dice. My guess is an educated one. If you are not interested, that's fine. Your only contribution here seems to be saying negative things about other people without actually contributing anything. You seem to be what is known in the trade as a troll.
