I guess it falls to me to note the passing this week of Robert Clary, dearly remembered as Cpl LeBeau, the French prisoner in Stalag 13. Also a Broadway alum.

There’s a documentary produced in 2013 called, KINDERBLOCK 66: RETURN TO BUCHENWALD. In watching that documentary, and looking at Clary’s Wikipedia entry, it is clear that Clary, while not featured in the documentary, survived Buchenwald. All the dates line up. I just happened to watch it the day before his death was announced…

He did. Here's the Times obit (https://www.nytimes.com/2022/11/17/arts/television/robert-clary-dead.html) which provides some detail as well as noting two other Jewish cast members who had escaped the Nazis (Klemperer and Banner). Clary was the last surviving cast member.

I do love the sweet obviousness that Hogan is the one to inform us of his passing.

Many years ago Clary played Passpartout in AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS at the Jones Beach Marine Theater. He was marvelous. (I don't recall if that production was brought back for a 2nd summer)
