I think he was so fantastic that it's definitely going to be a revival that'll stick around for years to come!
Heh, nah, he actually wasn't half bad. Definitely tons more charisma than Matthew Broderick's portrayal in the movie...

I heard he was a horrible singer.
Wait wait wait wait wait where is he in THE MUSIC MAN at?
He was in the revival on Broadway.
I was quite intrigued by his performance. He was much better than Craig Bierko was - he reinvented the role and played Hill with a restless quality, as a man who didn't quite believe in what he was doing anymore and so was trying to con himself into buying his spiel as much as the townspeople. It worked quite well, and because he played it that way it was actually believable that this man was ready to settle down with Marian.
I remember him playing the role very well. He definitely had the sly confidence that the role requires (and Matthew Broderick lacked)
I LOVE Robert Sean Leonard, but thought he was kind of boring in the role. I missed that twinkle in his eye that Bierko and Robert Preston had. He played it very serious and extremely low key. He wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, I just didn't care for his character choice. I'm glad to hear that people did enjoy him.
I saw one of his very first performances. He was obviously still quite nervous, but the actor in him pulled him through the show. I thought he was good. However the fly system failed right after 76 trombones and they had to stop the show for 20 minutes.
I didn't see RSL, however I did see Eric McCormack, and was pleasantly surprised. Didn't care for Bierko, seemed like he was trying to channel Preston.
