There is a "video" of her as Nina when she was an understudy and she had curly hair.
I also saw the show last night. I thought Corbin was excellent. Very charming and likeable. I actually didn't mind the slower tempos- it made the lyrics more clear. His diction is much better than Miranda's.
Enjoyed Janet's acting a great deal. I found her very believable as a college student returning home for the first time. However, I missed Mandy's big voice.
Del Rio was a fun Sonny, if a little campy. However, like Dacal, he's much more age appropriate than his predessor.
The remaining OBC members are are still uniformly strong, particularly Andrea Burns and Chris Jackson.
Marcy Harriell is a disaster.
Pretty full house and the audience seemed very into it. Performance had a lot of energy.
I also saw the show last night. I agree that Corbin was excellent. Janet was also really good. Definitely can't belt out the words like Mandy but still equally good. I also really loved Del Rio. I thought he was excellent.
Like Adamgreer said said Andrea Burns and Chris Jackson are excellent. They both bring so much energy.
I know I've said this a few times but after seeing Marcy last night... I still think she is lifeless.
I believe that is Janet's real hair--- It was straight the other times I saw her as Nina as well.
I saw the show on Sunday and would like to join in on the excitement over Corbin and the rest of the cast. I liked Corbin a lot. I don't think he's as good a rapper as Lin, but he did a fine job. I think he really nailed this character with his excellent acting. I loved watching him interact with each cast member and enjoyed noticing all the little facial expressions and gestures he did.
Janet as Nina... wow, I am completely in love with her portrayal. I cannot stop thinking and raving about her performance. It's true that she is not a huge belter like Mandy, but her voice is so beautiful. I enjoyed every second of her songs just listening to her gorgeous voice. Her Nina seems sweeter and softer than Mandy's (I loved Mandy in the role too). And I agree that she looks more believable as a college student.
Chris Jackson and Andrea Burns are always highlights for me too. They always give tremendous performances. You'd never guess that they've been in the show this long with the energy and freshness they put in every time.
David Del Rio makes a great Sonny!
Marcy surprisingly didn't bother me that much this performance, although it's probably due to the fact that I was paying very little attention to her.
Doreen was on for Abuella and boy does she have an incredible voice. I feel very lucky to have seen her in her 3 different roles each of the 3 times I've seen the show - her ensemble track, Camilla, and Abuella (also making it a different Abuella for me each time).
I highly recommend everyone to see this cast! As soon as the show was over, I wanted to see it again.
