But the question remains WHY? Could the Nederlanders not sell the show in Detroit? Anyone?

Does Givens have any family in Detroit? Perhaps she wanted to be there for some reason. Or vice-versa, maybe Michelle DeJean needs to be in New York for some reason. I'm sure there's a reason that's related to the performers themselves and not the producers.

It actually wasnt a rumor when that other thread was posted -- it's been confirmed for some time now. Wish I'd seen the thread, I would have confirmed for you; straight from Michelle herself.

It is a huge black population. I bet they wanted a black star to headline it. Someone the black community knows well. I think it makes sense.

What an interesting theory NYC4Life. I hadn't thought of that. I must add however, that at first I was almost offended, but I know that you meant well and it is an idea I hadn't thought of, BUT I just don't think that's it... I go to the shows in Detroit all the time and that 'Demographic' of people isn't coming no matter what you do. So that would be an incredible 'stunt' if they pull it off. I still think they were having trouble selling it. It's been here 6 times before.

I think it is a bit odd. The population might explain it. But this is Ms.Givens Broadway debut, in a limited engagement. No one else thinks it is weird that she is leaving to go to Detroit, and then back to broadway?

Not really, considering this is very typical of Chicago and it's touring company.

Not to mention if they put her on Broadway first they can advertise her on tour as Robin Givens, straight from the Broadway Company of CHICAGO.

I know Chicago's stars have jumped back and forth between Broadway and the tour, but I still think this is a bit odd.

It's really not. Typically, for one long sit down (as Detroit is) the Weisslers will put a name in on the tour. It was only logical for it to be Robin Givens for the reasons already stated.
