A local community theatre production did the show a few years ago, and it came with NO orchestrations....the band had to create them, apparently. I don't know if they don't exist, or what.....

Samuel French has the rights so they should have the orchestrations. Standard rental package includes: Piano/Conductor’s Score, Synthesizer, Bb Tenor Saxophone, Guitar, Bass Guitar and Drums

When I Music directed this at Bucks County Playhouse, all I got was a piano/vocal score. I had to write out the charts for the guitar/bass/drums. fortunately, they had mostly played it before and knew of some extra things that happen that are not in the official score.

Hmmm... it sounds like maybe these theatres who got no orchestrations were doing the show illegally. If you pay your fees in advance, they send you the materials, folks!

Anyone "out there" who has a copy of the orchestrations must have photocopied them, which is illegal.

Jon,

The theatre of which I spoke *definitely* had the rights. It was even an issue whether they would still be able to do the show after the Broadway opening, but they had gotten in just under the wire, and S. French let them go ahead.

So, by the time they started rehearsals, no one else was being granted the rights...maybe that had something to do with it, I dunno, but, like JBSinger above, they received only the piano and vocal score.
