DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT LAZY TO LOOK THIS UP, I JUST WANT TO START A THREAD!
Was RHPS ever on Bway or Off-Bway? I have been listening to the Original Roxy Cast and I really like it. I am just not sure what the Roxy Cast is (starring Tim Curry) and was wondering the answer. I know RHPS was a movie.

Posted: 9/4/03 at 6:44pmThanks Mr. Roxy. You wouldn't happen to know what the "Roxy Cast" is?

To Bway Theater 11
Regretfully not. My old playbills, along with a lifetime of useless stuff like rheingold beer trays & a hopalong cassidy fork & 2/3 rds of a placesetting from the automat are all in my storage facility 5 minutes from my house. I cannot get to it until 2 weeks from tomorrow & I trust long before than someone will post the information you need.

The Roxy Cast was the Los Angeles production, with Tim Curry being the only holdover from the London cast.
It played Broadway for a month in '75 and was revived in 2000 with a very enjoyable production.
Oh yeah, "Picture" is only in the title of the movie.

Lips, Lips, Lips! Where's my toast, my bic lighter, the rice, a newspaper and of course my roll of Scott's tissue?
Ahhh--I would like to go do the Time Warp one more time.....

I saw it on Broadway two years ago in December with Sebastian Bach as Igor. It was very good. A little different than what I was used to. Terrance Mann was Frankenfurter, Daphne Rubin Vega was the maid and Jonathan Sharp was one of the phantoms.

I do not believe there is an Igor in the show (unless you mean Riff Raff)
RHPS (the movie) was my favorite movie from the ripe age of 11. My friends and I were the biggest Groupies from Transexual Transylvania! We would also love to do the Time Warp again!
As of now, I shiver with antici....

Posted: 9/4/03 at 7:42pmIt's the movie based on the original production, if that's what you mean.

Not too bitter or sweet
It's a long lasting treat
Rhinegold Beer...
Oh my gosh, The Golden Girls useless trivia finally kicks in. The episode when Rose goes in for double-by-pass surgery, and they're all in the waiting room. Sophia remembers Sal in the hospital before he died, and he used to sing the Rhinegold Beer jingle I guess, so she started off singing it, then Blanche joined in, then Dorothy.
Yeah.....Golden Girls rocks! lol

Posted: 9/4/03 at 8:08pmI saw the RHPS at the movies too, but have yet to find the trill of it all. I guess if I had been drunk or whatever I might have liked it more. I do like the music.

Well as a regular at the RHS 2000 show...I can say that it was great fun! I did see the movie when I was 12 for the first time in 1980. But now that I have seen the live show...I can say that there is not much that it compares with!
I still love the movie...but hmm...Brad Majors....Jarrod Emick...the floor show. Nuff said!

Posted: 9/4/03 at 10:21pmI saw the movie for the first time about a year or so ago, and the beginning was fine, but at the end, I wanted to throw things at the TV, with them swimming in the pool, and crawling around and whatnot. It annoyed me. I regret not seeing the show, but I never got interested until after it closed. I do like the music a lot, and love Jarrod Emmick on the CD. I also LOVE Daphne Rubin Vega!

Posted: 9/5/03 at 11:06amI agree, Billy, Jarrod sounds great on the CD, but believe me....the visual was even BETTER! I recall reading somewhere a young woman said she "wished she could be the floor" during his bit in the floor show---ha!!

The movie should never been seen in anyone's living room. It is an event to go to. Not a film to watch.
I saw the revival several times and soon after Terrance Mann took over, I sat there thinking, if the show had been done this way originally, with this cast, it might have actually worked on it's own (without audience props and participation). Of course, that didn't stop me from continuing to join in the fun.
Terry's "I'm Going Home" stopped the show in it's tracks- so beautifully done and very moving.

I actually adored Tom's Frank. I also loved the audience participation...but mostly b/c I had a big part in that each show in many more ways than one.
Terry's I'm Going Home was amazing and I will always cherish on first closing, 9/23, how he made us all cry with his redition.
Personally, I just loved going to the show b/c it was never dull!

Posted: 9/5/03 at 1:29pmOkay, now. Let's not forget John Jeffrey Martin -- the very sexy swing/understudy to Brad, Rocky, and Riff Raff who ended up taking over for teh very end of teh run when Jarrod left and looked VERY hot in the 'Rocky' costume. :) yum.

Actually I saw John Jeffrey Martin go on as Brad and he practically ruined the show goofing around onstage; I thought Alice was going to punch him in the face. Six months later I went back to the city to see the show (I live in Ohio) and he was in as Rocky and was equally irritating.
Missed Emmick both times, first he was just out for the night and the second time I saw Luke Perry who was a lot of fun in the role.

BG2...this will be the very first time I have ever disagreed with you. I agree with John Popa completely. JJM just was a mess to watch and actually made me cringe on more than one occasion. But then again...no one compared to Jarrod!
I agree Luke was so much fun to watch...oh and the 90210 lines we all came up with!!! Actually the best were the times when Jarrod would ocme to the show and do the lines back at the cast!
