Roles In Urinetown

In the city I live in, one of the best known theatres is doing Urinetown. I want to audition and I will be 15 when its performed. Are there any roles for guys that age in it? I have the CD but I never listen to it. I'm going to start listening though! Also, does that age group fit into the ensemble? Please get back to me. Thanks!

Yeah, its for adults. Guess not. But Wizard of Oz is the summer show so there's always that!

Bobby Strong is supposed to be a teenager, isn't he?

re: Roles In Urinetown

Urinetown would be the perfect show for the theater group I worked with. PERFECT. For leads, we have:

A High Soprano (Hope)
A Tenor (Bobby)
2 Baritones (Cladwell and Lockstock)
2 Mezzos (Sally and Pennywise)

But, alas, we aren't doing a show this summer. Plus, rights aren't fully available yet and our director hates Urinetown, but that's all beside the point.

bobby and hope are supposed to be in their early 20s. if there are adults in your production than there are no roles for a teenage boy. sorry!

Although usually played by adults (and probably funnier that way), both Little Sally and Tiny Tom are technically "youngsters".

I think you could probably fit into the ensemble. Well, it depends on what you could pass for. I just turned 16, but lots of people think I'm 18ish when they first meet you. I think you should audition anyways, it's an amazing show.

Do you live in Cincy by chance?

How high does Hope sing? Urinetown is coming around my town in fall too and I want to audition.

re: Roles In Urinetown

what are the female characters like? I'm not really familiar with the show. What would a good audition song be? The only thing I'm not really favorable of doing is low low alto stuff. I'm game for anything else.

If the show comes around here, I'm auditioning for Little Sally. I wish I were a soprano so I could be Hope, but Little Sally is the second best. re: Roles In Urinetown

I disagree, Little Sally is the best role. Of course the role I'm playing coming up is going to be the best when I do it!
