She wrote on her blog several months ago that she had just received a check for $46 million. Then in her true spirit of self-loathing she wrote "Nobody needs $46 million". Trust me, the chick doesn't need the cash.

The revival is going to be "all-star" (at least with Broadway names). This isn't the first time I heard this rumor.
On Rosie's blog, she had repeatedly stated her favorite Broadway show ever is Les Miserables. On her "Ask Ro" section she was asked if she would like to do Broadway again and she said "soon. yes."
My gut says its true and that would be wonderful!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Les Miz was known for giving discounts in the dead of winter month of January when nobody attended the theater. I wonder if Cam figured that into his budget this time around.

Well, that's an understatement if I've ever heard one."
Ha, I've never actually heard her sing except for at the Tonys with the cast of RENT, which was terrible, so I don't really know. :) I'm supposing she's just in musicals for her personality and not her voice, though.

Madame Thenardier is a CHARACTER role. "Master of the House' has about a three note range. Less vocally demanding than Golde OR Rizzo. There are tons of other singing actresses I'd rather see in the role, but Rosie wouldn't be a total disaster. Frankly, if they are going to bother bringing this show back, I'd hope it would be with a unique cast. I mean I'd rather see her than somebody who's been doing it on the road for the last 15 years.
Rosie O'Donnell has done more for the theater community than all of you little snobs combined.
If you bothered to objectively evaluate her past theater work, you'd see that she certainly has the ability to give a memorable and probably fresh performance as Madame Thernardier.
I for one am hoping against hope that Rosie does get the role and proves that the chronic & habitual nay-sayers among you don't know your alleged theatrical asses from your elbows.
This is a really bad idea. I doubt that it would happen. For a six month run there will be enough interest not to require an expensive cast (certainly not the fee she'd command). The show will sell without her.
Well, from the other reports ("Les Miz is her favorite musical ever!" "She doesn't need money") she might be willing to do it for scale. And I think the producers are going to have to do something, because I doubt there is going to be enough interest in this LES MIZ return to sell it out for six months without some new incentive to see it.
You're so obsessed with Rosie O'Donnel, Goth. Her being a lesbian is not a rejection of men, yet you seem to take it SO personally.
And what the HELL are you doing reading Harry Potter or concerning yourself with the movie adaptations? You're never going to be Raptured, now. And you have your heart so set on it.
I don't think she'd be all that bad. At the very least, she has the passion for it, you know? I'd rather see someone who is passionate about the musical perform (even if she isn't the best singer) than someone with an amazing voice who couldn't care less about Les Mis.
I'd personally like to see her "Master of the House".
I have family that saw her in Grease, and her performance was uninspired and stale (not considering her ability to properly perform the role; she seemed bored and as though onstage was the last place she wanted to be, and that disappoints me considering the numerous talented women who would kill to have one of her roles on Broadway). In a stand-up bit, she said she HATED doing Grease because on Broadway, you do "the same show every night." And that no matter what, it's "the same show every night." And I believe her, because it showed in her performance. If she doesn't want to do "the same show every night" then she should stick with work where there's more variation, like with a daytime talk show.
"It's not for sissies, contrary to popular belief." - Tommy Tune, on musical theatre.
I dont understand why everyone's against. Maybe cuz I havent heard her sing/act. Anyway, I think just by the looks she can totally do it! I mean come on! I never expect Claire Moore to do it, but she did! Rosie totally looks the role, fat, snobbish, bitchy...etc AND it doesnt require much of a vocal range... thank GOD she didnt want to do a role like Cosette or Fantine... or Javert!

Every good actor knows that it's not the same show every night. You have a different audience and that changes the show every night.
Call me a theater snob, but I like to see people who know what they are doing onstage.

This is my hope for this entire cast. I have no desire to see Randall Keith or J. Mark McVey AGAIN. They really need some fresh blood for this revival. The worst thing they could do is bring in the touring cast.
