Roundabout apparently has a creepy stalker routine wheras if you see a show in one of their theatres (I saw "All About Me" at the Henry Miller's Theatre [and loved it]), then they call you about getting a three-show subscription...
So are there 3 shows by Roundabout that are worth seeing, what do you say??

Posted: 4/21/10 at 6:17pmI wouldn't call it a "creepy stalker routine"...they need to sell subscriptions to stay afloat. All of the non-profits do this or something similar if you buy a single ticket to one of their shows.

It's not the cheapest option for Roundabout, but approx. $66 per show is still a decent deal. Plus, you'd probably get better seats as a subscriber than the other options.
They call me all the time too, but I never pick up the phone and am not interested in becoming a subscriber. I am not always interested in Roundabout's productions, but when I do see one I just get a hiptix ticket. Plus their policies for general rush, student rush, and their $10 first preview tickets are pretty awesome too.

Oh right, I totally forgot they are non-profit...

Let's put it this way. If the three shows you ended up seeing were "The Philanthropist," "Hedda Gabler," and "After Miss Julie," what would you say?

Posted: 4/21/10 at 7:41pmTake if from one who's been there, Roundabout will be relentless in trying to get you to subscribe. I had to scream, yell, threaten murder, use all kinds of profanity to get them FINALLY to remove me from their list. The kicker is, a lot of the time they change shows at the last minute and you get burned. My advice, DON'T believe a word they say.

Not when you can get tickets to the first weekend of all their shows for $10.
They are, as Ed said, absolutely relentless, however. I've requested to be removed from their list about 4 times now, to no avail.

I've been dunned by the Roundabout to subscribe to their season. They even called me after 9 PM and I reported them. Finally, they took my number off their list. Now I only buy Roundabout tickets at the box office and whenever I'm asked for my phone number, I give them that of Dial-A-Prayer. (Heck, I think they need a little Jesus!)
As someone else said, why subscribe to the Roundabout when you can get $10 tickets to their shows?

They call me all the time, too, to the point of being annoying. I've said no so many times, even had to hang up on the caller, and they call me right back.
I saw one of their shows, hated it, and don't really have a desire to buy a package from them...

Knock on wood, I asked to be taken off a year ago after 2 calls and I was never called back. I said "if I promise to keep up on your shows on your website, like I do anyway, will you not call me anymore?" They laughed, said yes, and I've never heard from them again.
Pretty much gone through this routine with every non-profit.

Posted: 4/22/10 at 8:04amKnock on wood I've never been contacted by them in spite of getting regular tickets to at least 3 of their productions in the past few years (regular meaning non-rush; ordered on-line so they have all my information).
