Posted: 10/13/06 at 1:38pmI don't. I think HIGH FIDELITY will be here and gone before she'd have the chance to join.

It really doesn't matter for her because Fantine is a small part. She comes on, sings a power ballad and dies. They only want her there for opening night so they can have the option to put her in for a Tony.
She leaves in late-January which is the worse attendance time for Broadway. Remember all the discounts Les Miz used to offer in January. She'll be back in time for the "spring awakening" of Broadway.

What role was Daphne gonna do in HIGH FIDELITY?
They can give the replacement slot to Nikki with a new contract, if they wish.
I hope Nikki has a new show by then instead of being in this Old Warhorse.
(I'm not a LES MIZ fan, but I love Nikki)

If you read the article she is not pulling anything. She had been working on this play for years apparently and told the Les Miz producers that she'd be doing the play for that much time so it is not a surprise.
From the rumors I have heard, Daphne's audition was brilliant and everyone was so impressed by her performance that negotiations with other Fantine hopefuls were immediately terminated.

Posted: 10/13/06 at 4:09pmI heard before that Daphne would be taking a leave from Les Mis at some point, I wasn't sure exactly when. I wonder who is going to fill in for her.

well crap, my ticket is for February. Figures.
Good for her, though, for being able to work it out so she could keep that other commitment, too.

How about Judy Kuhn as her replacement? According to Ali (Cosette) Ewoldt's blog, it looks as though Judy was at at least one of the rehearsals for the revival.

In a run in which every performer began to sound the same and everyone was a clone of the next actor, it is nice to finally have a cast that will be completely different.
I am glad about this news because I was afraid she'd be taking this vacation when I saw the show. When I got tickets, I didn't really care - although I loved her in Bernarda Alba. But once I saw the rehearsal footage I became excited to see her very different, very real take on this role.

I didn't. I think she'd be perfect if she could sing it. I like how people are saying you can't hear anything in the 4 or 5 bars she sang. If you've got any ear whatsoever you can hear a lot. She's the one who said that she's just worried about singing it. Maybe she'll get stronger. Let's hope. It's not like her song is this difficult aria to sing. I just think she's in an uncomfortable place. This really isn't a piece she's used to. Good for her for trying something new. Now I hope she pulls it off.
PS I loved her in Bernarda too.
