Aloha. I am bookwriter/lyricist in Kona Hawai’i now completing script for musical that dramatizes the encounter between an aging Captain Cook and young Kamehameha the Great, while celebrating the islands’ polyamory culture. Seeking Tony-calibre composer for Broadway-class score featuring iconic Hawaiian music, dance and design. Rule of Fire: When two cultures collide two living legends clash - one discovers his destiny, the other makes a mortal mistake.

I wish you luck on your project. That said, I truly don't think any Tony-caliber Broadway composer is on these message boards looking for a project with an unknown writer.  For those who have gotten to that level, they have put in their dues working their way up. They are not going to take on your project. Further, those at that level are typically not writing musicals on speculation, but rather are commissioned and paid to do so during their development.  You need to find someone at the level you are at to collaborate with and build from there.  Just saying.

Don't you want the traditional Hawaiian music to be authentic?

Of course it’s a long shot but there is always a chance that a budding talent is looking for a project with potential and could launch a career with this

However, your original post mentions Tony-calibre composer.  Such a level of MT composer is not going to respond, sorry.  Someone with budding talent just starting out, maybe. But often this doesn't happen stranger to stranger, but through networking, referrals, etc.  Again, best of luck.

Authentic music alone makes a jukebox musical. New music can sound authentic and work for the story and characters. I should add that I am a Dramatists Guild member who wrote book and lyrics for Off Broadway musical Get Thee To Canterbury

So, you produced a musical and wrote the book and lyrics Off Broadway in 1969, which is 54 years ago. Your career has been a long one.  In all this time, do you not have a network of people you know in the industry to find a budding composer?  Might you find more luck asking people in the Dramatist Guild which you belong to than on an anonymous message board not likely frequented by composers themselves looking for work on a speculative basis?

Authentic doesn't mean old music, it means true to the culture being represented. As in, wouldn't you want an indigenous Hawaiian artist to write the music over someone who's only experience with Hawai'i an Hawaiian music is as a tourist?
