Rumor: Dallas Summer Musical 2006 Season

I was at the stagedoor before the show on Sunday (WICKED) and there were a few people who work at the music hall who were outside the stagedoor either getting fresh air or having a cigarette. My mom made conversation with them while I was meeting Stephanie--the woman told me she believed that Light in the Piazza and Lion King are supposed to come to DSM.

In the paper on Sunday, there was an article about Wicked's success in Dallas--and later in the article it confirmed that DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS is going to be the state fair show! That's about a 3 1/2 week engagement, I believe. I'm extremely excited about that. Another show I glanced at was BROOKLYN. I don't know what the article said about it, but it mentioned the name so maybe that will be coming to Dallas as well? The article is still in my mom's car, so I will try to get it from her tomorrow and I will try to scan it in.

Hopefully this interests some of you.

Lion King? Again? Its only been about 3 years, hasnt it? At least LITP and DRS will be good (if they are true.)

Here's most of the article--sorry this is a little bit late.

OK. So We'll have a pretty good season. Some old faves(Les Mis, POTO, Lion King?) and some new shows(LITP, DRS, BKLYN).

re: Rumor: Dallas Summer Musical 2006 Season

I got my renewal notice for the 2006 season today. The lineup will be The Phantom of the Opera, Brooklyn, Little Women, Bombay Dreams, Les Miserables, Mamma Mia, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Sadly, no appearance of The Light in the Piazza but, thank the Lord, no return of The Lion King.

Yeah!!!!!! Thanks, that sounds really good! Believe it or not, I've never seen Les Miserables yet, so I'm excited about that one.

I saw Wicked and was 5th row center stage. It was AMAZING. What was so funny was that Kendra swallowed a bubble as she was coming down from her bubble during the opening and was caughing. What was so cute was that she stayed in character and said "Oh" very Glinda-like!

I think the subscription is worth it. I've had 12th Row (Row L) in the dead center for about 6 years now and I really love the seats.

Regarding Les Miserables, the poster included in the renewal letter is advertising FINAL DALLAS ENGAGEMENT.

They're saying "final" for all their stops right now, but it doesn't appear to be much more than a word.

Seems like I will need to get a season ticket this year! I may even splurge and get 2nd balcony! Ah, the suckiness that is being poor.
