Rush report from 45th st at 8.45am today (Tuesday):

Only 3 people at Come From Away. 8 people at Carousel. About 3 each at Three Tall Women and Iceman Cometh.

---------
Rush QUESTION:

In town for a week. Have my theatre m-smorgasbord rush / student tix list basically down (The Young Ones was awesome, Come From Away, Angels in America, 3 Tall Women, Travesties, Iceman Cometh).

One slot left, Sunday matinee, any opinions on rushing Hello Dolly vs Carousel, vs gambling on winning one of the lotteries for Lobby Hero, My Fair Lady, Mean Girls, Sweeney Todd? (Both in terms of the best theatre experience and the craziness of the rush line/lottery on a Sunday). Thanks!

For rush- I would think either would be doable but Carousel for sure would be the easiest to get.

Lottery: I think Sweeney would be the best chance especially if you are playing for one. Mean Girls/My Fair Lady digital lottery are probably unlikely due to popularity. Same with in person for Mean Girls. Not sure about Lobby Hero.

You could probably get rush for Carousel easily. Mean Girls would be highly unlikely - on the two-show snow day, they had less than 20 tickets available and there were about 20 people in line by 7 a.m. My Fair Lady likely wouldn't happen either.

Lobby Hero doesn't have a lottery, but they have TodayTix rush and student rush starting I think either an hour or two before the performance. You could also check Telecharge for the performance you want to see. Advance 30 Under 30 tickets might still available - comes out to $43 with fees.

EDIT: The Sweeney Todd lottery is difficult but they have student rush which I've done before. They're running student rush differently now than when I did it - according to their website you can go to the box office as far as 24 hours in advance and get a $39 student rush ticket.

I would say it's a hit or miss in regards to Carousel. That is, depending on seat options you prefer. While during the week front orch tickets are most likely available for rush, as told to me by the box office staff. This past Sunday matinee performance, there was only rear mezz and box seats available. I was second in line at Carousel and took the box seat since I had seen it before with amazing orch seats, so I didn't mind the view.

I'd agree with linus84, your best bet is Sweeny Todd. Although, not sure what the regular rush prices are, as I did the Student rush two Sundays ago and they had seats left even minutes before show time. Not a bad seat in that little theater and for $40, it's a no brainer :)
