Seriously. Ramirez has a fine voice, but Eva Peron needs to be a powerhouse with an effortless belt.

Murney is the clear choice. Looks the role. SIngs the role. Can act Ramirez under the table.

I never thought of that. Stephanie actually does look like Eva Peron. Just give her a blonde wig and set her loose.

I'm sure she would sing the hell out of it. She'd be way better than Idina. Idina has a very limited range because of her peculiar singing voice that sounds kind of like a feral animal.

I think Eden would be great, I think she's got good acting skills. I think its hard to base Sara's "depth" on Class Act and Spamalot - comedy is a lot harder to do than drama. Nothing saying she's a great actress, cause I don't know, but she was great in Spam. And its hard to see Murney - as much as I would like it - get the role because she's not a "name" and it seems like they want someone who will sell tickets. Although I think Murney would be a break out star if she did get the role.

Please God, I hope Eden isn't doing it!

Julia is going to garner legions of new fans because of Wicked, which could boost her chances of getting the role. Anyway, Patti LuPone and Elaine Paige were both unknowns when they played Eva.

None of the actresses mentioned on this thread so far--save for Toni Collette--are particularly well-known outside of the NY theatre circle anyway.

people love to criticize the performance of someone without them auditioning or seeing them in a role. as a performer-and a willing and impeccably talented one- sara would probably be great. how do u kno how high she can belt? did you sit in on a session of her warming up? how can u say julia is a better actress? did you see them play the same role before? sara is a fine actress. michael kahn and all the teachers at a little place called JUILLIARD seem to think so or else she wouldnt have been one the 8 people out of one thousand admitted the year she started. but alas i say all this to say if she's given the chance to do evita im sure as an actress and singer she would be more than capable.

If they were to revivie Evita (and release a revivial cast recording) I'd want Kathy Voytko from the US Tour to do it. I love her voice and wish there was a recording of her in the role. I heard her before I heard LuPone and prefer Voytko (though I love LuPone).

IT doesn't have to do with Ramirez being good or bad, she just isn't the right "type" to play this historical figure.

Probably not. Ripley is taking time off from the theatre to focus on her CD with her band.
