I think Sara Ramirez would look kind of silly in a blonde wig. But that's just my opinion.

As much as I appreciate her, she is:
1) too tall
2) can't belt high enough
3) if she can't manage an 8 perf/week schedule in Spamalot, how could she ever handle even a 6/perf week as Eva?
This needs to go to Alice Ripley - hands down.

I thought Toni Collette had been cast? Anyone know anything even approaching concrete? Then there's talk of Idina being called in last week to sing with Sophia Ragevelas as Eva & the Mistress? Role on next week when some announcements might be made to stop all the crazy cast speculation for the next batch of London shows.

I concur on Alice Ripley. I don't see Ramierez doing the role. She just doesn't seem to fit the role. I could be wrong though...

Please if there is a musical theater god let this go to Alice Ripley. Can you even imagine the possibilities and the brilliance this woman could bring to this role?

isn't Ramirez busy with Grey's Anatomy? I don't think she could take the part and still do the show. Hard to shoot a show in LA and do a musical in London. And I think Idina publicly said she wasn't going to play Evita cause she didn't want to move over to London - isn't that right? I'll be excited to see who they pick. I'm seeing the tour next week.

Gotham, actually Tim Rice & Elaine Paige romance started during EVITA, after she had been cast in the role. And the decision to cast Paige was Harold Prince's.
As for Sara Ramirez playing Eva, even though she has a lovely and quite versatile voice I don't think she can belt those high notes in the score.

Seeing her in Class Act and Spamalot twice, I don't think she has the depth for a role as substantial as Eva Peron. Alice Ripley gets my vote.

I think the role should go to Eva Longoria because they have the same name. And The Mistress can be played by the chick that plays Teri Hatcher's daughter. And Peron can be played by Roger Bart.
