"How fair is it for him to be complaining about people who gush and gush, but not for people who hate and hate. He wants people to stop gushing, but yet he keeps hating as much as people are gushing."
Aida,
As I seem to be the person you are squawking about (and please correct me if I'm wrong), let me say first off that I wasn't commenting on gushing, but on gloating. I'm afraid it reflects very poorly on the person engaging in it, and I hope I've helped the poster in question to realize it.
As for the matter of those who gush on and on about heaven knows what, my feeling is if that's what floats their boat, well, so be it. It's certainly something I neither enjoy reading or doing. I loved many shows in my lifetime, but I don't gush about them five times a day every day of the year.
As for posting repeatedly about shows one hates, well, here I think your perspective is a bit skewed. When people gush several times a day for years on end about crap that is inimical both to our theatre's health and our audiences' constitution, well, then, that's a problem that needs to be addressed. Frankly it's not something I enjoy doing, but, hey, if you aren't willing to stand up for what's right, how can you expect anyone else to? So it has nothing in the least to do with hate, but rather with balance, with standards, and most of all, with the well-being of our theatre.
