Yes Bucchino has written a few scores but his cabaret songs are what he is currently known for (until his new show opens on broadway). My point is that just because these songs do not fit into your expectations for a show does not make them bad. If you find them boring that is another issue.
I do completely agree that the lyrics lack any originality. I find the melodies more interesting than you, but I also find they lack originality and seem to be blends of other composers.
I still enjoy the cd but it is far from my favorite.

Posted: 1/1/08 at 5:37pmI also strongly disagree with the statement, "Scott Alan-The Future of Pop Musical Theatre". I had purchased "Dreaming Wide Awake" (via Itunes)because I had become familiar with a few songs from, "Piece". Needless to say, I was quite disappointed with the material. As mentioned before, I too find the songs to lack originality and personality for that matter.
