Hello everyone! Long time no talk. :)
I have a favor to ask of you lovely people.
I am auditioning for New York University this coming week and just decided to change my uptempo song to "Where Was I When they Passed Out Luck?" from the musical, "Minnie's Boys." Finding this track ANYWHERE has been near impossible. I was wondering if any of you had it? I would be SO grateful if you did and contacted me. I am in dire need of hearing the actual accompaniment for I fear flopping on my face upon hearing it at the audition (if it is for the first time.)
Thank you guys so much for your help.
Thank you thank you thank you.

Do you have the sheet music -- I assume you must so that it could be played AT your audition? I can't imagine that you couldn't find someone at your high school that could play it for you...even asking the music department. How could you have learned the song without the sheet music? Are you simply relying on a recording? (I don't know this show at all.)

Posted: 11/7/09 at 10:39amBecause the first song was iffy and this one works so well with my voice. The problem is that my vocal coach has been playing the chords because the sheet music is very tricky. Yeah, I'm probably making a big mistake but I just feel it when I sing this song. It's either this or Miracle of Miracles and I feel like that's just so over done.

If you have any doubts about whether an accompanist can play it, don't sing the song. Better to sing something you are comfortable with that is overdone and do a really amazing job on it...most people don't have any sympathy even if the accompanist screws up. Generally audition pianists are good, but I've had some who have real difficulty sight-reading certain things and especially since Minnie's Boys is not a well-known or frequently done show, I'd say stay away from it.
