Is this publication still extant? I haven't received an issue in ages--was it the famous Hillary Swank edition? I haven't received a renewal notice either.
I wasn't fond of the magazine, but I want to get what I paid for when I subscribed.

My latest issue dated Winter 2004 came yesterday with Nathan Lane on the cover.

Posted: 12/10/03 at 7:41pmI just received a renewal notice in the mail this week, so I'm assuming yes. Although, I agree it seems like a really long time between issues.

They just celebrated a year anniversary. I also wish it came out more then 4x a year.
Monthly would be better and I could see more of Musto's hot list.

Posted: 12/10/03 at 8:00pmI bought the magazine with Hugh Jackman on the cover when I went to see Wicked -- it was at one of the Broadway stores around Times Square. I was thinking of subscribing, it was a nice theatre magazine. Too bad it's only four times a year. I liked the issue that I bought -- is it worth getting?

Posted: 12/10/03 at 9:41pmAh yes, I do remember receiving the Hugh Jackman edition. They're selling it at the Imperial Theater, no less! Thanks for refreshing my memory.

I received the first 4 in the mail and then received a renewal notice, but I decided not to renew...rather to purchase it in one of the many Theatre stores. Magazines get ruined around the edges when they come in the mail, plus you get that tacky address lable on it.

You're absolutely right, Chris. I miss SHOW MUSIC and wonder about the rumors that it will be revived in a somewaht different format.
I also mourn the loss of IN THEATRE.
I will not renew my subscription to SHOW PEOPLE. I think it's a vapid publication.

It IS kinda a bubble-headed rag, but the new issue is worth it if only for its cover - a sexy shot of Nathan in combat fatigues.
'Ten HUT!

I missed my Hugh Jackman issue. Someone in our post office mustt have found that magazine quite fasinating. I went on the Show People website and explained my that I did not get the last issue and they sent me that issue and the winter issue. (I subscribed again) I enjoy the magazine but it does not seem to have much "meat" in it if you get my drift.
Vapid is a good word.

It's very fluffy. Nathan says little you don't already know. Lots of Nerf-ball questions delivered by Winnie Holtzman (book-writer for WICKED the musical). Thereis a good Patrick Pacheco article on the making of ANGELS IN AMERICA, but it's mostly filled with stuff that would not be out of place in a MODERN SCREEN of 1955, like "Let's Go on a Shopping Spree with Donna Murphy!" I half expect a pictorial of Elaine Strich in her linoleum lined kitchen, whipping up a batch of peanut butter cookies wearing a gingham apron entitled: "I'm just a Simple Girl at Heart!"
This is fun, but Theater fans deserve a far meatier and more interesting magazine.

Posted: 12/13/03 at 6:54pmIt wasn't very expensive, but it isn't worth it. It's WOMEN'S DAY with a theater slant.
