Okay, this is a generational thing, I'm sure, but I was envisioning more of a Rodgers and Hammerstein score for this story but I'm hearing music that is closer to "pop". (Yes, I admit that I'm in my 70's)

Disney is not involved in this production, and the song Jeremy Jordan sings is neither sung by Bernadette nor an “I want” song. “I want” songs are sung by the central character at the beginning of the story. Jordan’s character is a secondary one, and this song is sung just before the spring is discovered which takes place well into the story. Keep calling me names, referring to me as a child, etc., but please continue insulting me while also saying a bunch of wacky, inaccurate stuff, contradicting yourself, then pretending you never wrote what we can all read. You’re very entertaining, and your lack of knowledge is very easy to point out."
Not true (at least during development). This is a joint venture of Indie Theatrical (Louis Hobson who was in Bonnie & Clyde on Broadway) and Buena Vista Theatrical (aka Disney Theatrical).

Yes, Buena Vista Theatricals is owned by Disney Theatrical Group, but the company was not founded by or does not have any roots in Disney. Before it was Buena Vista it was Fox Stage Productions which was the theatre producing arm of 20th Century Fox, then Disney acquired the company. I don’t think they have any desire to Disney-fy stuff Buena Vista produces. If they did, they would have their actual Disney arm of the company, Disney Theatrical Productions, produce it.

You're making things up again, Arnold.

"The Disney Theatrical Group, legally Buena Vista Theatrical Group Ltd.,[3][4] is the live show, stageplay and musical production arm of The Walt Disney Company. The company is led by Thomas Schumacher, and forms a part of Walt Disney Studios, one of the six major business segments of The Walt Disney Company."
Also, you seem to be so focused on me that you missed broadwaydanwi's post.

I think you're right. The Jordan song has a country rock beat, but I can also see it falling into the pop category. I definitely hear "pop" in the "I Want" song.

My recent trip to WICKED absolutely hurt my ears. I guess I'll have to bring earplugs when I see THE SONG OF BERNADETTE.

I didn’t miss anyone’s post, and I’m not making anything up. The information you shared from The Dramatist’s Guild is inaccurate.

Buena Vista Theatrical[edit]
Buena Vista Theatrical, formerly Fox Stage Productions, is a theatrical production company of Disney Theatrical Group.
Previously, 20th had just licensed their property for theatrical adaptations including 9 to 5,[33] Young Frankenstein[31] and Big.[27] In 1970, All About Eve was adapted as Applause musical on Broadway with Margo played by Lauren Bacall.[34] Fox had become vexed by many of these fizzling adaptation attempts.[13]

Notice how they are two separate production companies?
My point, since you missed it again (shocking), is that not every subsidiary of Disney will be Disney-fied, as you suspected the character of Bernadette might be. Disney also owns Marvel, yet we haven’t seen Marvel superheroes or villains turned into Disney characters or seen Mickey Mouse fighting alongside the Avengers.
Also, once again, the song Jordan is singing is not an “I want” song. I’ve already explained this.
Does anyone know when/why the World premiere that was supposed to happen in May doesn't appear to be happening anymore?

As Bernadette? My memory may be flawed, but I don’t remember any males in the movie beyond the old clerics who went after her. I doubt that a musical based on the movie would have any role for JJ.
that said, it’s about time that he got a chance at a new musical or went to Hollywood for more steady work. Been a long time since Newsies and the flip Bonnie and Clyde.

The story also includes a Miller who was quite smitten with Bernadette and carried her away when she passed out during one apparition.
