#0SOS I'm radioing for HELP!!!!

I can't get the radio to work. I click on it, a screen pops up and asks High Speed (cable) or Low Speed. I'm on RR so I pick fast. A little box pops up with the player, I see the CD cover, I can click on it and even requested a song BUT I'm not hearing anything playing. I played with the volume control. I have Windows Media Player installed. I opened WMP but that didn’t help. What do I need to do now?
Many thanks,
D

Posted: 11/17/03 at 8:55pmYou have to download Abavista (or something like that, can't remember the name) first. I had trouble and as soon as that installed, it worked.

Still no go. Oh, well. I'll figure it out some other time. Thanks for trying to help, BwayTheatre11.
I'm just no good with this stuff.

I am having the same problem, I thought it was my computer. I get the screen that says what is playing, but where the "play" "pause" and "stop" button is it appears as if the program has not loaded all the way. Hmm. I'll keep trying, too. If you get help DofB, let me know.

Hi folks,
Sounds to me like the Abacast plugin has not installed properly for you. You can get it directly by clicking on the Abacast "download" button at this location: http://www.abacast.com/download/download.php
Give that a try, and then try to launch the radio station again. You may want to reboot first. Let me know how it goes!

Thanks, Kris. I had to update my media player, then download the abacast. Works for me. DofB try downloading the WMP upgrade first. It took a while, but it worked.
Thanks for your help, Kris.

I tried the downloads & stuff, but I get a message that says:
"The media source is unavailable or offline. Please contact the broadcaster. (Message #8 )"
Is it me?

Thanks to all--I'll try this when I get home from work tonight. I don't have time for a download/install right now. Will let you know how it works or not!
Have a good one!

Hi etoile,
The stream is intended to be Mac compatible, as long as you have Windows Media Player installed (wither version 7 for Mac OS 8/9 or the new version 9 player for Mac OS X). There are some issues with Mac access to the stream that are being worked on; if you PM me I can give you information on a temporary workaround.
ozboy and mish,
That looks a little bit like a network problem. I noticed that both of you posted at about the same time. Please try it again and let me know if you still get an error.
Thanks for being patient, everyone -- especially you Mac users!

Sorry but it's still a no go. I downloaded the plug in, rebooted, still the same story as before. No sound at all. But when I went to the Abcast site and tried some other radio stations, it works fine. I clicked on ModernWorld Broadway and nothing.
What am I doing wrong?
Many thanks,
D

DofB5 -- are you running the latest version of Windows Media Player? You may have to re-install that. I've not heard of your particular problem before ![]()
PennyLou -- Sometimes the code that runs the player window gets disrupted -- especially if you're surfing other sites. I'm going to add a little "refresh" button to the player window tomorrow (I hope) and that should help you out. Sorry for the hassle!

Yes, Kris, I think I am runing the latest because I clicked on the "Check for latest update" with the player and got the message that I have the latest version, theres nothing new to download. Perhaps if I do a whole new install?
I'll try that tonight unless you think of something else today.
Thanks,

I reinstalled everything and it still won't work for me. Oh well.
Maybe one day. I'm hoping to get a new computer after Christmas.

Guess what? I figured it out. I was using Netscape. I forgot that I can't get into the chat room here unless I switch over to Internet Explorer.
As soon as I switched over to IE and clicked on Broadwayworld Radio, the plug in came right up and I'm now listening away!
Rob, is there a reason things won't work with Netscape?
I'm just going to stay with IE--I don't like the way it makes the board look but it's easier than always switching around.

I guess I must be lucky. I installed it without a bit of trouble. It just takes a few minutes to install.
Keep trying guys..it's worth it!

Ok, Do you have the latest Windows Media Player installed?
If not you need to go to the plug in site and down load both the latest player and the plug in. If you do have the newest version and the plug in installed, maybe you need to do a clean install of both like I did. Uninstall both and reinstall them from the site KrisJoseph gave:
http://www.abacast.com/download/download.php
If none of that works, how well do you sing?
Good luck.
