There wasa thread about this show, but it is gone. I am curious to hear from anyone that has seen recent previews. I saw it on it's first preview night and thought it was very funny, clever and well acted. However, long at 2 hours with no intermission. Just wondering if it has been trimmed and thoughts of anyone else that has seen this terrific play. It has an outstanding performance by Sara Steele. And Gideon Glick, who left Spring Awakening to do this, is also wonderful.

I would encourage you to check out the play again. The run time has been shortened by at least 15 minutes and a somewhat "new" ending is in place. I'm sure you'll enjoy spotting the changes.
I don't think I will have the chance to check the show out again, but am definitely interested in hearing the changes. Can you PM me?

THANKS! Glad to hear they have shortened it a bit. Do you approve of the "New Ending"? Well, I am going opening night. I can't wait now.

Changes in most cases are subtle and have led to shorter and tighter scenes. I do approve of the "new ending", however, it may not stay in place. They'll make a decision following a few more trial performances. For those who can see the show again (and are clearly fans) I think they'll have fun seeing how things have progressed. For those who can't attend again you'll be glad to know that the spirit and message of the show are still very much intact.
silversurfer2: That's great you were able to get tickets to opening night (10/29) as I know they were not on sale. Have fun!

jaystarr: If you go, the theater is very small-seats about 65. Try to get there early. 8pm show, I would get there by 7-they let you downstairs {Elevator}by 7:15. you wait in the lounge until they open at 7:30. This way you get to choose a good seat, Front row etc. The back rows are cool, the chairs are higher.
ENJOY!
P.S. If you want to SD, you have to wait outside of the entrance to the theater, the cast comes out that way. There is no stage door.
Silver - Thanks for the heads up .. BTW - Is this in Laura Pels Theater too ? Do they have 2 theaters (one for Overwhelming & other for S&D ? ) in that space ? just wonderin'
Edit : I found it.. it's at At the Black Box Theatre
at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg
Center for Theatre
111 West 46th Street (between 6th Ave & Broadway)
New York City

Just returned from Speech & Debate...and I absolutely LOVED it. I will definitely be seeing this again, and taking people with me.
I loved this play. It isn't often that I see something that I think is both legitimately enlightening AND entertaining at the same time. It's engaging AND ****ing hilarious. I am seriously recommending this to every friend I have interested in new plays. I feel like I've seen some very ****ty theatre this week, so being at Roundabout tonight gave me an insanely good feeling. I want to go back and see Speech & Debate again actually...

Has the show been selling out? It's only 65 seats and 20 bucks, so I imagine it would sell out frequently? Do you think they'd extend the show and then double the price? :)

I'd say it was sold out last night. There may have been an empty seat or 2, but I'm pretty sure it was full.
I loved the very first scene....mmmm!!!
Okay, you guys sold me. Color me THERE! Isn't Susan from "title of show" in this? I adore her, though I'm still not totally convinced she's not a man.

I cannot stop talking to people about this show, it excites me so much! I honestly recommend that everyone goes to see this ASAP!!!!
I am planning on being in New York from the 5th through the 10th. This show is on my list.
Just back from tonights show.
The best way I'd describe it...is by the end of the play, you have fallen so in love with Howie, Solomon and Diwata, you want Stephen Karan to write ANOTHER play with their further adventures.
Irresistibly funny and moving. GO.
(FionaMae: Could you please PM me to? I'd love to know what the 'old' ending was. Thanks!)
