My daughter is 10 and has an ID card from her school and has gotten to love going down to the city to see shows. Can she get student rush tickets at her age?? If yes, can I (the dad) get that second ticket or is it supposed to be for another student only ??

Also, when I read about RUSH tickets on this message board, is there also these kind of tickets available to us who are too young for AARP and to old to be a student ?? Or are Rush and STUDENT RUSH the same ??

When do all these go on sale - as soon as the box office opens or does each show have their own rules and start selling them at a specified time ??

Thanks much in advance for the clarification !!

She should be able to. The ID is good enough.

^That should help you in terms of rush policies for different shows. And I think your daughter's ID should work.

Just so I know I am reading it right, some theatres have RUSH tickets (available to everyone) and some have STUDENT RUSH (just for the students with ids). If I am right, I did read a thread awhile back about a student have an older person with them and getting 'the look' from ushers like they were only supposed to have another student with them.

Again, thanks for your help and the Talkin Broadway website.

Some shows sell two tickets per ID, in which case who uses the other ticket doesn't matter.

However, there are shows, that allow only one ticket per student Id.

Plus, while many rushes are only for students, there are general rushes too, such as Color Purple's.

So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.~Office Space

If I'm not mistaken, I believe The Color Purple is the only (non lotto) rush policy now that's General Rush (I think Three the Roundabout shows usually have it as well, but they've pretty much been selling out, so I guess that's kind of moot).

I've never really had a problem getting the stink eye from ushers when I bring my mother with me to shows, but I have heard from people who have. Give it a go, and what's the worst that will happen? An usher will give you a nasty look and be less than friendly when giving you your Playbill. They're certainly not going to throw you out. You're allowed to buy two tickets with a student ID. There's nothing that says both thicket must be used by students.

But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)
