Well, first of all... yeah, it's a really old topic, but one I wasn't actually familiar with, which was interesting. But, as a result of reading the thread, I got stuck in one of those wikipedia-type worm-holes; I assume everyone on here knows what I mean. I am now exhausted from learning. That thing about the Sweeney Todd in Texas mentioned here is... ummmm... interesting. How did I miss that? Also, in my searching, I realized I saw a play by the seemingly controversial director of that production of Sweeney in New York a year or two ago, and I was amused to see his lead character's name was Betty. Curious indeed.
I was half awake when I opened this thread. I read the Playbill article and thought "This is the same cast as Brothers and Sisters, that's going to be a confusing show!". Duh!
Why was she replaced with Judy Kaye in TALES OF THE CITY? I heard that she was not a team player, and Judy Kaye certainly is. I know from personal experience, having done SIDE BY SIDE BY SONDHEIM, WINDY CITY, THE MERRY WIDOW and ANNIE GET YOUR GUN with her.
I think Betty Buckley is a fabulous talent, but she is very hard to work with. When she did GYPSY at Paper Mill, there were lots of problems, missing shows, and lots of other things. We would see a lot more of her on Broadway and TV if she was easy to work with.
