Indeed, a revival is long overdue for this rarely seen show.

I think there's something in the contract that says all professional productions of Gypsy have to at least threaten to ponder a Broadway transfer.

Saw it last night. There's some terrific talent involved, though it's a bit uneven. Sally is a wonderful Rose, and another great Broadway Baby, Patti Mariano, is a delightful Mazeppa. The Louise is quite special as well.

The shows at Harbor Lights are usually hit or miss. Their West Side Story last summer was a miss. Their Oliver a few years ago was fantastic, though.

I have several friends who are involved with Harbor Lights. Speaking as a native Staten Islander, the problem with shows around these parts is twofold:

1. The companies do the same shows over and over. In the Wings Productions is ALSO doing Gypsy in a few months.

2. The shows overlap constantly, often running the same weekends so all the casts can't attend the other groups' performances.

It drives me nuts...
